If you’re like us, you’ve hit the reset button on your night rituals and it feels amazing. We haven’t had a bedtime since mom was setting child-lock on our AOL screen time, and since we broke free of those chains, we haven’t looked back—or in this case–away from the screen. So, tell us, how did you like unplugging from the digital world? How did your days change—and more importantly, your nights? What did you do to pass the time before you drifted off to your dreams? Share your experience from this past month with us in the comments below or tag us in your post with the hashtag #TEG30DayChallenge and let us know how the challenge went for you!
This brings us to our next challenge: feeling well rested and recharged from unplugging is a great baseline for embarking on picking up a new habit. With the weather getting warmer, we’re increasingly convinced that spending more time outdoors is top of our priority list. Incorporating an activity as simple as walking into our day is a great start to our next challenge: 30 days of 10,000 steps. Yes, that’s a total of 300,000 steps (or roughly 120-150 miles)! Now let’s get moving!
With all of the trendy workouts gracing the covers of magazines and flooding our feeds, it’s hard not to get swept up in the fun of a new way to get our sweat on. But after the initial thrill wares off from your elevated heart rate, letting your membership or punch card gather dust in your gym bag is all-too-common. Instead of chasing the miracle-workout, why not capitalize on something you already do, several times a day, everyday? Yup, we mean walking.
Not limited to mall-walkers, walking can provide a simple way to get exercise in without needing complicated equipment, expensive memberships or staying chained to an impossible class schedule (No thank you, 5:30 a.m. spin!). As simple as taking a second trip to the mailbox, taking the dog for a little longer walk, or a few laps around the office building post-lunch, adding in extra steps to meet your approximately 323 steps per day is more than manageable.
Now, get to steppin’! Oh, you mean you aren’t ready to start hand-tallying your steps from sun-up to sun-down? Well this challenge we’ve decided to utilize a pedometer to help us keep count of how far we’re progressing toward our 10,000 step goal. As pedometers come, they vary in flair and intricacy, but we’ve partnered with Anne Klein to bring you a stylish option that won’t throw off your 9 to 5 business-casual flow.
