To me, there’s no other season that feels more like a fresh start than fall. And with every fresh start, comes a reevaluation of certain things. As the weather starts to cool and you begin to tuck your off-the-shoulder tops and summer dresses away, take the time to also reassess your wardrobe. Fall is hands down my favorite season for style—the rich hues, added layers, and non-freezing temperatures make it the season to blend cozy and chic.
Aside from few good pairs of denim (and perhaps leather skinny pants if you’re so inclined—like I am!), here are a few items our editors have selected as their favorite fall essentials. All will be on heavy rotation this season!
This bag from Bartaile marries form and function in the most beautiful way possible. For the woman on-the-go, the inside has compartments to hold all of your essentials from a laptop to power cords and everything in between. And the straps can be adjusted to be worn as a tote, messenger, or backpack. Talk about versatility!
I love the oversized fit of this chambray top. Rock the denim-on-denim trend by pairing it with a distinctly different denim color on bottom and your favorite booties.
Fall is all about layering, and we’re not sure of many things better than a well-fitting camel blazer. The ultimate neutral, think of this as your basis from which to create a beautiful look. Pair it with your favorite blouse, denim and loafers, or layer it over a basic black shift dress and heels for your next big meeting at work.
A color meant to be worn with everything, this stacked heel greige bootie has a Western-meets-city vibe that will be your absolute go-to from now until spring.
Layering a long-line trench vest is an easy way to add visual interest (and warmth!) to a look. I love the way this navy trench looks over dark skinny denim or leather pants. It’s a total outfit maker!
Chances are you have your favorite leather jacket already in the queue for the season. Now enter the suede moto, a fresh take on the jacket silhouette we all love. Updated in this gorgeous tobacco hue, this might just replace your favorite black bomber jacket and can be worn with just above everything. A combo I love? Black denim + white t-shirt + this suede moto = outfit perfection!
I love the way an ankle strap makes an outfit feel more polished—and the non-heel makes it work for all day wear. Opt for an interesting hue or material to add a bit of sass to your fall footwear.
The easiest way to transition a summer look into fall? A felt hat. Add this easy accessory to spruce up any outfit.
This super soft turtleneck is one of the most versatile pieces you can own. Pair it with denim, throw it on as a layer under a simple shift dress, or tuck it into a skirt with a vest over top. It will provide a great base for a myriad of different looks.
A cozy cardigan with a little bit of personality is an easy way to stay warm and chic as temperatures drop. We love the brushstroke pattern on this Nic and Zoe cardigan, perfect for adding warmth in the most stylish way possible.
