Fashion Essentials: Fall Footwear

The fall/winter shoe season in its entirety is made up of five key pieces of footwear: the loafer, the leopard flat, the closed-toe colorful pump, the bootie, and the tall leather boot. Luckily for the shoe lovers out there, Coach has hit the mark this season. Even Carrie Bradshaw would be swooning over the beloved brand’s latest shoe collection. Shopping for incredible shoes is the easy part, but coming up with creative, complimentary styling for each pair can get a bit complicated. Even the most fashion-forward gal can learn a thing or two from this fall footwear style guide.

It’s time to look at your shoe closet with fresh eyes. Even if you’re not buying all of Coach’s latest staples, you can reinvent your fall uniform from the waist down. And now that jacket season is upon us, the best fashion impression you can make is all about your bottoms and your booties, so to speak.

1. The Loafer
Loafers are smart, sophisticated, and add a certain eclecticism to an outfit. This versatile shoe has come a long way since the penny loafer craze. Show off these amazing shoes with a bold cropped trouser or wool herringbone shorts and tights for an unexpected twist on a classic. These gleaming gold loafers are the perfect combination of flashy and cool.

2. The Leopard Flat
They say a little leopard goes a long way, but we just can’t get enough of these flats. Leopard is the perfect print on a flat because it gives enough edge without being overpowering. These flats are surprisingly neutral and can be combined with a wide array of colors and styles of dress. These flats are the perfect match to a brightly colored pencil skirt… date night, anyone? You can even wear these with a simple cropped trouser for a day of shopping. You’ll look effortless and feel comfortable wherever you go.

3. The Bright Pump
Every woman needs that one pair of brightly colored, closed toe pumps to take them from day to night. The Sue Heel has a ladylike quality that works for the office, but embodies enough sass to make a statement at an evening event. These poppy-colored pumps fancy up your worn-in cords, but look that much sweeter when complimenting a favorite LBD.

4. The Bootie
Oh, the bootie! It’s a generational favorite and a shoe that will never go out of style. Isn’t it much easier to invest in this Cary Bootie knowing you’ll always be on trend? Throw on some skinny cords with this high-heeled number for a long, lean, and oh-so-chic silhouette, or opt to show off those gams in a tweed mini. These booties can do no wrong.

5. The Tall Leather Boot
Whether you’re stomping city streets or strolling through the country, a black leather boot is a must. They make a sleek, no-fuss kind of statement and have a certain regal, equestrian allure when paired with tapered skinny jeans. But since fashion is all about risk-taking, try matching these beautiful boots with a tunic and leggings or a flowy dress for a bit of a rock n’ roll vibe.

All equally gorgeous! It’s so hot here in Miami I wish I could enjoy a little cooler weather so that I can wear what I’ve gathered from Coach!

I’ve been seeking a staple brown flat for fall and was thrilled to find the Coach isa driver on sale at Lord & Taylor! As much as I crave color and a little edge, I’m relieved to have found my new everyday shoe – and a bargain. So Everygirl!

I’m trying to buy the Target leopard dress, but for some reason it keeps linking me to Saks for a different item :/

My leopard flats for sure! They add some sass to the outfit and are comfortable! Also love my tall leather boot, but I love the camel color over the black. I’m glad you listed dress shorts with tights. I often wear this to the office, but wasn’t sure about it.
