The Everygirl's Favorite Sources for Pillows
What makes a house a home? Any designer will tell you it's all in the details. Those cozy little odds and ends you pick up over time; the accents that bring texture, color, and personality to a room. Our favorite nominee in the decorative accent category? Throw pillows. They are the easiest most affordable means of changing the look of a room and making it truly yours. They are what differentiate your grey tufted sofa from your neighbor's grey tufted sofa. They can take what would be classified as a neutral room and make it a colorful one. And they can easily be changed out if you're anything like us and get tired of one look after a month or two.
But choosing pillows can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you're running from store to store. This is why we prefer to do it online. That way we can mix and match and pull styles from our favorite resources and see how they work together. So where are the best online sources for pillows? Behold the ultimate list of Everygirl-approved online sources for pillows of all prices. We have, of course, included the big stores that many of you already know and rely on, but we also included a number of our favorite smaller brands, as well. Many of these smaller brands are run single-handedly by the women who started them! Awesome. This is especially true of the Etsy pillow shops we've highlighted at the end. Note that while we've selected a few our favorite designs from each shop, all of the brands offer an array of styles, colors, textures, and fabrics. This is solely a small sampling. We've separated the online shops out by Pillows Under $50, Pillows Under $100, and Splurge Pillows (note, quite a few of the brands offer pillows that fall into another price range, but we did our best to categorize them based on the average pillow price). Most of the Etsy shops offer pillows in the under $50 range.
A few styling tips when the time comes to purchasing:
1. Never use the pillows that came with the couch. Boring. Put a little effort into it.
2. If you have at least two pillows on an item of furniture, make them different! It adds variety and interest.
3. When you're mixing different pillows, change up the scale of the pattern. i.e. if one has a small intricate pattern, make sure the other has a large pattern or none at all. This contrast will allow each pattern to stand out better on its own. Same with color.
So when the time comes for you to source those fluffy finishing touches for your living space, look no further. We present the ultimate list for pillow sources!
