Job Posting: The Everygirl is Hiring Spring Interns (in Chicago and remote!)

It's that time of year again! No, we're not talking about the holidays. The Everygirl is hiring winter/spring interns! How is that even possible? If you're looking for experience in a start-up in the fields of online journalism, styling, writing, photo shoot-ing, and social media, this might be the perfect gig for you...

Position 1: Graphics Intern

Company: The Everygirl
Location: Chicago, IL (or maybe not depending on availability?)

Responsibilities: You'll get to see the inside workings of the internet's most recent phenomenon: The Everygirl. Some have even called it the next Facebook of our lady generation. And you get the chance to work with Alaina and Danielle and fellow internesses to see how it all comes together! But for real, here's the deal. We need help. Those pretty features you see every day don't appear with a sprinkle of fairy dust, and we want your kick-butt graphics skills to help make them beautiful!

Compensation: School credit.

Qualifications: Applicants must be proficient in Photoshop. Preference given if you know InDesign and Illustrator, as well. We can train you on the editorial side of things. And while graphic design or journalism majors are preferred, neither of us went to school for graphics and both do it for a living, so we will definitely let this slide if you know what you're doing when we put an iMac in front of you and crack open a window. If you have a knack for wordsmithing, even better. You should be available to come in at least one day a week (preferably two). NOTE: 'Virtual' positions taken into considering on a case by case basis!

How to Apply: E-mail internship@theeverygirl.com with the subject line "SPRING GRAPHICS INTERN." Applicants without this subject line will not be considered.

Application should include:
• your resume
• your cover letter about why you want to work with The Everygirl
• a link to your online portfolio

And pretty please do not attach samples of your work. We need to be able to click over and view your portfolio online!

Must Apply By: Friday, December 21

Duration: January 1 thru May 15

Position 2: Writing Intern

Company: The Everygirl
Location: Chicago, IL

Responsibilities: Whether it's features, blog posts, or witty lil' captions for our social media, we need someone who is passionate about stringing words together. This intern will be largely responsible for writing feature introductions, feature interview questions, pitching story ideas, perusing Pinterest for images, and managing the blog.

Compensation: School credit.

Qualifications: Applicants must be grammar enthusiasts with a witty sense of humor. English, creative writing, or journalism majors are preferred, but we'll look past that if you make us laugh. If you know your way around the Adobe Creative Suites, even better. You must be available to come in and work at least two days a week.

How to Apply: Send an e-mail to internship@theeverygirl.com with the subject line "SPRING WRITING INTERN." Applicants without this subject line will not be considered. And please do not attach samples of your work. We need to be able to click over and view your portfolio online.

Applications should include:
• your resume
• a cover letter about why you want to work with The Everygirl
• tell us who your favorite female writer is, living or deceased
• two sample blog posts formatted for The Everygirl: one This or That and one Coffee Talk, include links to images you'd include with those posts (make sure we haven't already covered the topics you pitch!)
• a link to your portfolio (can be a blog with noteworthy posts highlighted)
• a link to your Twitter, Pinterest, and Instragram account

Must Apply By: Friday, December 21

Duration: January 1 thru May 15

Position 3: Remote Writing Intern

Company: The Everygirl
Location: anywhere!

Responsibilities: Same as above!

Compensation: School credit.

Qualifications: Again, same qualifications as position 2, but you must have access to videochat for interviewing and training purposes. Also must have basic knowledge of Photoshop (cropping, resizing, adding text, familiarity with layers) because you'll have to do the graphics for the blog posts you write.

How to Apply: Send an e-mail to internship@theeverygirl.com with the subject line "SPRING REMOTE WRITING INTERN." Applicants without this subject line will not be considered.

Please note we can only contact those being considered. We really wish that wasn't the case, and thank you in advance for your interest in working with The Everygirl!
