This or That: Beach or Ski Vacation

TheEverygirl_ThisorThat_BeachorSkiVacation

Picture this: the Travel Genie appears in your bedroom on a weekday morning to inform you that you’ve been granted a luxury vacation for two—score! You’ll receive two round-trip tickets to the destination of your choice, a weeklong stay with all expenses paid, and (bonus!) a note from your boss approving the time-off. You do deserve it, after all.

So now all you’ve got to do is choose. Will it be the sand or the snow? Oceanfront villa or mountainside lodge? Piña colada or Irish coffee? Tell us, would you choose a beach or ski vacation?

okay I’m going out on a limb here and picking neither. I’ve been dreaming of a European vacation for years! We live in a smaller town and after living in cities for years we sometimes crave the hustle and bustle. I would love a trip to Paris, Barcelona or anywhere in Italy.

But if I had to choose, a beach vacation would be fabulous. Hello, Hawaii!

I’m headed to London in a few short weeks but I have to say all this snow from Nemo has me day dreaming of laying poolside with a pina colada!

Ohhh how fun! It definitely depends on what season we’re in where I live. Its winter now, so I’d go with a sandy vacation. But catch me mid-August and I’ll be ready for a snowy get away.

After the weather we have been having in Chicago I choose sand! I need a warm tropical vacation stat!

  • Amandinette

Hmm, I think you chose the wrong season to ask this question especially for us Northern girls! Beach obviously!

  • designRoundup

Sand over snow anytime baby! I’m a beach bunny not a snow bunny. LOL!
For the liquid courage…mojito all the way!

BEACH!  I get too uncomfortably cold skiing and I’m usually miserable.

Ooh, if this question had been asked before Nemo, I would have probably picked skiing, but I’ve gotten my snow fix now so I’d pick a nice, WARM, sandy beach. :)

I am definitely not a skiier, so beach for me.  But I am also not a huge beach vacation fan.  I am going to echo Rachel below and say I prefer a European vacation (possible add in a coastal jaunt as well!) …. I loved Lisbon because you had the culture of Europe but the beach was accessible, as well, if you wanted that (same goes for Barcelona!)

This is such a tough call for me, as I love both. But something about life recently is calling for a few days in a lounge chair, by the pool, and umbrella drinks. Beach all the way.

I’ve been a ski girl through and through! There’s nothing like spending the day on the slopes, topping it off with some hot chocolate or other apres drinks, a little hot tub time, and walking around the snowy village at night.

Love both, but I would most definitely choose a beach vaca!! Give me sunny weather and sand in my toes and I’m a happy camper.

Landlocked in the Midwest, so I’d definitely love some sun and sand.

I prefer the skiing getaway, I`m more into sports.

I would pick sand over snow any day of the week. There is nothing better than laying out in the sun and soaking up the rays. It’s only 60 degrees here in Texas right now and I’m bundled up in multiple layers! The cold is not my friend.

I’d choose the beach and pack my SPF 80.  I don’t ski and I’ve gotten my share of show, seeing how I’m from Canada.

Snow may be glamorous in photos, but its cold.  And since I’ve been going on ski vacations since I was six, I would love to finally go on a beach vacation!

  • Angela N

I live in FL so I choose the ski trip!  I can go to the beach anytime. ;-)

  • Whitley Harris

I’m a shore girl who has had waaay too much snow in the northeast this year. I’m eagerly awaiting summer so give me a sandy beach and tropical drinks, please!

  • Stephanie

I’m with Rachel & Lauren – give me a city to wander around and that’s a vacation for me (I’m would love visit Buenos Aires, Rio or D.F.).  But if I had to choose I’d do the winter getaway – preferably the Alps in Switzerland!

BEACH for me. i need to hear those sweet ocean waves, now.

Are you kidding? With 22 inches of snow this past weekend……I am ready for some sun, hot weather and the ocean baby!
I have my sarong and sunscreen ready!

  • Nina

Beach! I haven’t been on a beachy vacation in years :/ though I wouldn’t go back and change the small city breaks I’ve had for one either… but it is long overdue ;)

  • Littleone5

Beach. Always always beach. Especially when you ask in February.

  • Kim

The beach and a Bahama Mama in hand!

  • Josephine

If the snow is good, a ski vacation for sure. My guy would definitely agree with me on that one. And I even live in Colorado, but we’re hurting so bad for snow that taking a ski vacation still sounds great! Though Costa Rica was pretty amazing last year.

I would go for the beach, but not tropical beach.  I’m from northern California and my happy place is the colder, rocky beaches of the Pacific Northwest.  There’s nothing better than a cozy sweater, a book, and some hot tea while listening to the surf.

Being from the rainy state where I haven’t seen sunshine or snow all winter long, I’d still definitely have to go with beach! I’m ready to thaw out a little with a nice glass of sangria in hand.

Beach. :) The boy is a snowboard coach, so I get all the cold-weather vacations I can handle!

  • Erinruthie

    Beach…no doubt about it!

  • http://teacupsandbcups.com/ nicole | teacups + B cups

give me the beach, the sun, and some rum. I’m ready for winter to be over and would gladly wait it out on the closest tropical island.

  • Liss

Ski bunny, honey! I would always choose snow over sand :)

  • Michelle L.

Living in Panama (tropical weather and beach all year round), the answer is pretty obvious for me… SNOW!!

  • bluewren

I live in the mountains, so for a holiday it’s beach all the way!
