This or That: Messy or Manicured Up-Do

theeverygirl_thisorthat_hair

An undone, messy up-do reads sexy, beachy, and oh-so-cool. This tousled, down-town look may be carefree and fun but is lacking a certain polished entity. A low, delicately-styled chignon eludes elegance, sophistication, and a certain air of chicness. This uptown ‘do is sexy in its own right, but is a little more buttoned-up than its messy counterpart. Which hairstyle do you prefer? Are you a fan of the messy or manicured up-do?

    Mine is almost always messy!

Considering that doing hair is not my speciality (a curling iron or top knot is as far as I usually take it) I love both! I think the messy style is great for everyday or casual Saturday outings, but the chignon is so sweet for important meetings or events.

Maybe I just need the skills necesarry… haha!

Given that my hair is curly and layered, even if I’m going for a polished look it ends up “messy” because I don’t like squishing the bounce out of my curls.

It all depends on what I’m doing for the day! If I have a ton of errands to run and will be getting in and out of the car then I usually prefer something more clean and uptight (otherwise it gets tangled in the straps of my purse), but when I’m at home I prefer something much more relaxed.

I love both of these! However, these days I have that I just got out of the bed from a wild night hair!

Pixie! So fabulous and so low-maintenance. I was all about the low bun when I had long hair though…usually off to one side with a flower pin in the top of the bun. Really easy for a just-out-of-the-shower look.

i like to counter the hair and the outfit.  messy hair with button-up look and a finished hair look on an edgier outfit.  make it a bit of tease.

messy weekends, manicured weeks (isn’t that sorta transitively true?)

If I’m doing my hair myself, it usually winds up messy anyways, but I really love the manicured version above!

If I could create a manicured up-do I’d be all for it but my skills leave me in the realm of messy!

Goodness I want to say messy and I feel like that is what I mostly wear but the manicured in that picture is so beautiful too.

    Messy!

My hair is smooth that no matter what I do to it… even teasing it.. it will always go back to it’s smooth state. The rare occasion I wear an undo, it’s always manicured!

Personally I prefer a polished look. Mainly because I can’t pull off casual!
