This or That: Neutral or Colorful Handbag

TEG_Blog_ThisOrThat_coach

When it comes to your investment, go-to, can’t-leave-the-house-without-it, have-probably-lost-everything-in-it handbag, do you prefer a neutral hue (that goes with everything) or a bright color (that makes heads turn)?

Editors Weigh In
Alaina: The brighter the better! I love for my colorful or bold accessories to command attention.
Danielle: While I am trying to branch out and add more color to my life, I tend to stick with neutral classics in both my wardrobe and home.

I’d stick to the neutral. I want bags that will go with a multitude of outfits. If I’m going for a pop of color, I’d rather add it to my outfit and let it stand out on their own.

I’m with Danielle on this one. If I’m investing in a nice piece, I want it to go with everything.

That happy yellow is certainly tempting though!

    I’m all about everything bright!!

I go with the color.  Work outfits can be so blah and boring, a nice pop of color is unexpected and fun.

Funny that this post is sponsored by Coach, because I was thinking of their new legacy bags in my answer!

I would have no o for neutrals, because one investment bag is all I ca afford and it will go with everything – but if I could, brights – they look so much more amazing!

I had to think about this because while I am totally attracted to the fun, bright bags, I tend to buy more of the neutrals, maybe in funky patterns, but still pretty neutral. I have one bag I adore, that’s bright blue, but everything else is a shade of brown or black….weird lol

i agree with danielle. if i’m going to invest in a great bag, i’m going to pick a neutral. but i will buy a cheap bright bag every once in awhile, but i don’t use them very often.

I think go bright… it really is the new neutral! I purchased the above bag in the larger tote size and in fabulous bright blue… it goes with everything!  I am wearing brown skinny cords today, with a black sweater and leopard ballet flats… the blue tote is in tow and I have received numerous compliments.  Love the brights… sooo happy they are in fashion… even in the fall!  :)

I usually invest in bags that are going to make a statement! I don’t care if they don’t match what I’m wearing, either. The highest quality bags in my closet are bright and vibrant or have fancy embellishments. My most expensive bag is bright orange and matches nothing I own, and it’s also the most compimented.

I go for what I call “progressive neutrals”: gunmetal grey instead of black, cobalt instead of navy, mustard instead of beige.

Neutral, I like the bright bags, but every time I’ve gotten one it never seems to compliment anything I own.

I was just debating this! I wanted to purchase a nice, I-can-use-this-forever leather purse, but I wasn’t sure whether I should go for color or a neutral brown. Initially I thought bold color, but I’m glad I changed my mind and went neutral. For something so expensive, I wanted to be sure I’d use is a ton, and a neutral brown bag will go with everything!

love color with classic design! it works like a neutral for design but adds a pop and always makes me feel happy – especially right now yellow is my color of choice and 2nd is turquoise.

It’s odd, I have a ton of colorful pops in my handbag collection, but I have no brown leather bag. I really need a good all-season neutral!

What I do and what I crave are different. ;) I tend to stick to neutrals, but I prefer the bright pop of color and trying to push myself to do more of this!
