TEG_Usefancywords_English1

Fancy word Everygirls should know: libation

Why we chose this fancy word: Our graphics intern, Chloe List, was laying out our first travel feature on Stella Restaurant and Bar in Boston when this word fell into her lap. She was searching all over the Stella site for their cocktail menu, not knowing the “libations” section was exactly that.

Definition: libation (noun) pronunciation: li·ba·tion

  1. A pouring out of wine or other liquid in honor of a deity.

I LOVE the word “libations”.  So much more fun to roll of the tongue than “drinks” or “booze”.  :-)

I always understood libations as, like, “pouring one for the homies” haha! And I work for a wedding/event planning company, so I DIE everytime one of my bosses uses “libations” in a proposal, lol!

You can only imagine how intelligent I felt when I was reading Camille Styles’ blog today, came across the word libation in the post, and knew what it meant!  Thanks to The Everygirl.
