Coffee Talk: Vow Renewal

Having eloped the first time around, Megan and Danny Silianoff always planned on renewing their vows down the road. However, the idea of another ceremony was quickly forgotten when Megan was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer at age 28. Just a year into their marriage, the two moved across the country from Chicago to Houston so she could receive treatment at M.D. Anderson, a prestigious cancer center. After many treatments and surgeries, Megan finally received a clean bill of health and they set their sights on starting a family.

Having biological children was no longer in the cards, so they began the adoption process and after two years were blessed with a baby girl. Now, five years into their marriage and at the height of Pinterest wedding envy, she jumped at the opportunity to host a small garden party to celebrate their marriage and how far they have come as a family. With a dress from BHLDN and all the charming decor she dreamed of, Megan proudly told everyone that her favorite part of the renewal was having her daughter, Macy Carter, by her side.

We know every individual love story is different, but Megan’s got us thinking: if you could do your wedding over, would you? Would you celebrate in style with an extravagant affair? Or is something smaller and more casual more your taste? Would you opt for an inclusive guest list or just a few close friends?
