Fashion Essentials: Cardigan

In parts one, two, and three of our Fashion Essentials for The Everygirl, we shared the must-haves that belong in every woman’s wardrobe. Now, every two weeks, we’ve teamed up with some of the web’s best bloggers to share how functional these essentials can be. For the must have cardigan in your wardrobe, we have Mara Ferreira of M Loves M Blog to show you two different looks using the same cardigan.

Styling Notes from Mara:

Most people know cardigans are a wardrobe staple, but do they know it can be a statement piece as well? When you wear a printed cardigan, in a design like polka dots, you’ve already given your outfit a little something extra. For daytime, I paired my cardigan with a pair of printed jeans, a button up, and a pair of booties. It was fun to pair two prints together and have it still work. I think the trick is that both prints weren’t too loud, and the jeans almost act as a neutral in gray. For nighttime, I styled my cardigan buttoned up with a full skirt. The look is slightly more put together, and the cardigan acts like a top. Polka dot cardigan, you’ve definitely earned your keep!

This is a dumb question…but do you pronounce it as “beholden” or spell out the letters….

    • It is pronounced “beholden” even though the name itself is BHLDN.

I wondered the same thing! Nice to finally know haha 🙂

I LOVE the wall decor! The vintage pictures are so inspirational. And the jewellery box is to die for. What an elegant and chic environment to work in 🙂 You guys are so lucky!

The BHLDN team is absolutely incredible! I loved reading their interviews and advice. All of them sound so driven, hardworking, and enthusiastic, and if the whole BHLDN team is that way, it’s no surprise that they’ve come so far in these few short years! Can’t wait to see lots more from all of them! 🙂

  • Ashley

Thanks for sharing this interview – BHLDN has such amazing stuff, great story!

  • Bobbie

Awesome, Callie! (and team) I wish we had more weddings to give in our family; we’d sure come to you!! What an impressive group you are. Your experience, verve and fashion moxie are surely critical pieces. Love seeing all this!! xx Bobbie (your Mom’s friend) (and this also reminds me of my early incarnation as an advertising copywriter!)

This is by far one of my favorite features ever on TEG. And believe me, I’ve read them all!!!

Learning background information and meeting faces of those who make it all happen at one of my favorite stores is incredible! I had no idea BHLDN was so young when looking at their success.

I love BHLDN! Visiting their offices would be a dream:) I love the three different points of view. Great interview.

A great article about one of my favorite companies! I “heart” Anthropologie so much that my 3.5 yr old knows it is Mommy’s fave store.

Wow, the BHLDN team is just as beautiful and inspiring as the line itself. I’m 18 years old, a sophomore in college–in Philadelphia, and it is honestly my dream to work for bhldn. I’m so incredibly happy I stumbled upon this interview. I actually teared up a bit when Angela answered, “What is your favorite thing about your job? What is the most challenging?” in the first couple of sentences. Working for a company that contributes to every girl’s fantasy of her own fairytale wedding is such an amazing honor in my eyes! Do you hire interns?

Great article! I’d love to feature an item from BHLDN on my blog, http://www.laptopsandheels.com. I’m located in Philadelphia and write about marriage, fashion, and my career. Please let me know if you’re interested in collaborating at [email protected] Thank you!

I am incredibly interested in working for BHLDN and I was wondering if there is an email I can send my resume to?
