Looking Back At 2013 and Looking Forward To 2014

Like every year, 2013 was filled with ups and downs and in-betweens. Maybe some of us landed a great job or got accepted into a school we love. Maybe some of us went through break-ups or lost loved ones. Perhaps it was a mild year—nothing happened that was particularly amazing or awful. Whether 2013 was a great year, a decent year, or a tough year for you, remember that 2014 is finally here. And we know you’ll make 2014 yours.

So, in order to end 2013 on a happy note and to start off 2014 on the right foot, we want to know what your fondest memory of 2013 is and what you are looking forward to in 2014. Did you celebrate any momentous occassions in 2013? Will you be celebrating one in 2014? How are you going to make 2014 your year? We’d love to know!

2013 started off pretty blah for me, and I’m ending on an incredible high note. In the last 4 months we’ve welcomed two baby nieces, I started a new (amazing!) job, and am finally experiencing the awesomeness of free time. I’m looking forward to figuring out how to spend my free time in 2014!

2013 started off pretty rough coming off of a really bad year, but I can honestly say now that 2013 was probably one of my favorite years! The highlight was graduating college and taking steps toward becoming an elementary school teacher, which is what I have wanted to be for years. I’ll make the transition to full-time teacher this fall and am so excited!

We’ve coasted through 2013 (which is a blessing in itself) but I would say our trip to New Orleans was my favorite moment. Getting the phone call that the Army wanted me to write for them was pretty exciting (and terrifying!) too.

  • RuggedandFancy

2013 marked a couple milestones, my husband released a record that got some great national acclaim…and we found out within days of its release that we are having a baby (after twelve years of no baby, it was QUITE the surprise!).

2014 is full of excitement already, readying for the February arrival of our son, Tennessee Wolf Johnston, travel opportunities for us as a family with the husband’s ten piece band and exciting partnerships between our company, Rugged and Fancy and some brands and people we really admire.

Yes, it can get better. Yes, you can do and have it all. Just change the way you define your work…and work hard!

    Happy New Year!

  • I’d say the first half of 2013 was pretty mild for me. Once this school year started though and I moved into this year’s dorm it took an upward shot! I met so many great people and had so much to do! I look forward to going back in 2014 and continuing to build some awesome relationships!

i went on the trip of a lifetime with my sister — spending 3 weeks across europe — it showed be a world I hadn’t exposed myself to previously and really helped my concur my homesickness

i also moved out — something I actually never thought I would be able to do due to being very attached to my parents — but I did and I am loving it!

i hope in 2014 I can gain some focus and gratitude — and stop trying to fill empty space with things and refuse

This year had it’s ups and down, I can’t say it was my finest year, but I can say every year I’ve learned to take something positive from each; Even if it happened to be a rocky year. What’s good this year is I got my cosmetology license over the summer. The not so good, I had some struggles financially and in my personal relationships. So my focus this year is new beginnings, so I’m looking forward to this coming year.

  • I’m so excited about 2014. I moved to London in July 2013 and started freelancing in photography which I love. I can’t wait to see how I am going to develop professionally and personally through out this year. I have set myself a lot of goals for this year to keep me on track. I’m looking forward to working hard and seeing how my career develops!

  • The high point of my 2013 was getting my dog Juno. Really was the best thing that happened to me all year! For 2014 I want to learn how to say no, quit smoking, and read two books a month.

2013 was one of my favorite years yet…after some ups and downs in job searching, I finally landed a great job! I adopted a dog, traveled to Europe with some of my best friends and was awarded a fellowship for a conference in D.C.

Looking forward to what 2014 will bring! Cheers and happiness to all of you…may you accomplish all the goals you have set forth for the new year. Go get ’em tigers! 🙂
