My Week of Outfits: Everygirl Cofounder Danielle Moss

I don’t have any “capsule wardrobe” rules and probably own too many pairs of stretchy skinny jeans (like seven? make that definitely 🙈 ) but a few years ago I made the decision to only own and wear what I really love. I donated and sold what I never wore and filled in any missing gaps with (mostly) timeless pieces. It was a serious overhaul, but it paid off — I (usually, I’m only human) have something to wear every day that I actually like and am excited to put on.

Name: Danielle Moss, Cofounder of The Everygirl
Age: 35
Location: Chicago, IL

Monday

My fall wardrobe is almost always jeans and a sweater or jacket, and I usually live in 2-3 pairs of the same jeans (Parker Smith and Rag & Bone are my forever go-tos) and rotate between sneakers and loafers.

Tuesday

My day-to-day is a mix of going into The Everygirl office and working from home, so I keep it pretty casual.

Wednesday

My entire wardrobe is black, white, grey, and camel with a few touches of navy, hunter green, and blush. I do most of my shopping at Nordstrom, Shopbop, Madewell, and J. Crew. (Hey, I know what I like.)

Thursday

When I shop for clothes, I don’t focus on trends or pieces I like… but know don’t fit into my lifestyle or mix well with my current wardrobe. It’s all about editing yourself and figuring out exactly what you like — it can be a serious challenge, but it’s been worth it for my wardrobe and my peace of mind.

Friday

Leather leggings are my go-to to add interest to any outfit — I love pairing them with simple, classic Nikes and a white tee. To add a little more pulled-together-ness, I topped it all with a drapey trench and my trusty crossbody. Weekend, here I come.

Cotton Crewneck Tee, Madewell
Drapey Button-Down, Madewell
Tie-Back Sweater, Topshop
High-Waist Denim, Parker Smith
Distressed Skinnies, Vigoss

Heeled Booties, BP.
Foldover Clutch, Steve Madden
Leather Tote, Cuyana
Tortoise Sunnies, Le Specs

  • It would have been nice to see the outfits from Thursday & Friday from the front. The profile photos don’t really showcase the outfits well. :/

  • I love this- I’m trying the same mindset of a sort of capsule wardrobe, where I clearly am breaking all the rules of minimalism but really only keeping items that I really love and are wearable season after season.

Your first outfit made me laugh as I’m wearing the exact same thing right now! I must be on the right track then!

Holy crap I want everything in your wardrobe! Thank you for sharing!

  • Love this. My closet is in serious need of decluttering and this is the best inspiration.

  • Wednesday and Monday are my fav! LOVE the loafers in Monday too!

Love the idea however, like many women, I work in a more conservative work setting where jeans are not acceptable and the dress code is much more formal. And unfortunately, I spend more time in the office then outside – so most of my clothes are work clothing.

I would like to see a collection of clothes taking into account the office. I feel that in order to be taken seriously, many women dress like their male counterparts (shapeless suits, button up shirts and ill-fitting trousers). I would like to see a collection from The Everygirl showcasing feminine, fashionable clothes for the office warriors that want to be respected but don’t want their clothing to be a “distraction”.

    • Thanks, Chanel! We love this idea — we’ll get to work 🙂

  • Thursdays outfit is awesome. I actually like them all. Super simple, but still very chique and classy!

Love love love that grey coat!! Where is the actual one in the photo from?? I’m inspired to clear out my closet after this post.

I would love for you to do an outfit series for women who work in traditional professional environments where their “work clothes” are definitely not items you could wear to a park on a Saturday. That being said, Danielle’s wardrobe is bomb and her style is impeccable (and functional!).

  • Loving your minimalistic chic style!
    Timeless & classic <3

Have had that cotton crewneck tee for years now. Love it so much I have it in three colors!

  • I love Danielle’s style. Neutrals for life. I did my closet overhaul a few years ago and basically started from scratch. Now every item in my closet makes me happy which makes getting dressed so much easier and fun.

I have a question for you and your readers, I live where it’s quite cold in the mornings so the thought of wearing my loafers without socks just makes me shiver but I don’t know what color socks to wear, nude, bright color, black? My loafers are a grey flannel and I love them. I have this same issue with my flats, the little pedi socks don’t cover the top of my foot and I end up with cold, achy feet. I would love to hear some suggestions, as I’m loving your style.

Same here. Living in Canada makes me end up wearing boots from October to March and/or bringing flats to wear at work.

Danielle Moss style is pretty much close to my style!!! I might have to purchase those Franco Sarto’s loafers cause they are gorgeous!!! I love how simple yet chic her attires are.

  • I love the idea of a capsule wardrobe, but haven’t gotten around to pruning my closet yet! All of these outfits are amazing and I love how you paired neutrals without looking too one dimensional.
