About my skin
I have sensitive, combination, and acne-prone skin (every girl’s dream, I know). No makeup artist, beauty counter employee, or chronically online friend has been able to pinpoint my undertones, so I’ve always landed on neutral. Is that accurate? I have no idea. And the skin around my eyes is thin, nearly translucent, and very sensitive to products and makeup. That area specifically tends to get patchy and dry in the winter and oily in the summer. Therefore, my standards are very high.

What differentiates Colleen Rothschild’s eye cream from the dozens of other products I’ve tried is that it’s a hydrating eye cream that neutralizes darkness—not a concealer that only makes my skin end up looking darker, dryer, or more tired once I take it off. The verdict
I’m the type of person who would fail the Stanford Marshmallow Experiment every time, so I opened the eye cream the second it arrived on my doorstep. It was late afternoon, and I washed and dried my face with my tried and true beauty product pessimism. You can skip the brushes and sponges, this is a hands on product, literally. After doing some research (scrolling through TikTok), I found that it’s best to apply with your finger and to start with a very small amount. I carefully applied the product as I’d seen a dozen influencers do before me. And I immediately perked up.
It took clean skin, a pea-sized amount of this peach-tinted eye cream, and a few taps of my finger to fade away nearly 25 years of “Are you feeling OK?” comments from family, friends, and employers. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t have the full coverage of a concealer. But once it melts into the skin, it gives me that perfectly refreshed, model-off-duty glow I’ve searched for my whole life. And it acts and feels like luxury skincare.

This Illuminating Tinted Eye Cream is now one of the few products that I carry on me at all time. I’ve introduced it to friends and family of all ages and skin types. And when I’m packing only the essentials for a weekend trip or a day away, it always makes the cut. It’s that your-skin-but-better product I’ve been searching for since I was a preteen.

The price
I’ve probably spent hundreds on concealers, serums, and creams (I’m not doing the math). I’ve considered botox, and I’ve bought a lot of weird gadgets. So, while this $48 eye cream isn’t drugstore cheap, it’s surprisingly affordable—and if you use code EVERYGIRL20, it’s less than $40. Not only does it cut the tubes of concealer I have to buy to nearly zero, but it also requires such a minimal amount of product that I’m confident it will reach its 12-month expiration date by the time I’m done with this tube. Personally, less than 50 bucks per year on an under-eye product that WORKS is a no-brainer.
