When it comes to working out, finding something to wear is an uphill battle—especially when you’re plus-size. I’ve never been skinny, but I’ve always loved being active. Growing up, I played every sport offered at school, and without fail, I was always the biggest person on the team. While the uniforms the school doled out always only ran from an extra-small through a large, my dad would always find the team’s uniform online to order me the correct size—but he shouldn’t have had to do that.
Fast forward to the beginning of my adult life: with no more mandatory after-school workouts to keep me active, I had to find something else to do. That’s when I decided to try SoulCycle. I wore an oversized T-shirt and some old soccer shorts to my first class, and as I looked at all of the modelesque bodies around me, I noticed they were in the cutest matching sets! It was like they’d all coordinated without me (did I miss the email?). I remember thinking to myself that I’d never have the confidence to pull off an outfit like that.
Here I am, four years later, not only with the aforementioned confidence but having amassed enough activewear and workout expertise to share some of my favorite activewear for different types of workouts with you. Skip the old T-shirt and soccer shorts and try these outfits out instead:
