Whether you’re all in on the post-apocalyptic voyage that is The Last Of Us or jamming out to Daisy Jone & The Six, this era of television has something for everyone. Shows have never been more versatile, giving us an array of complex characters we resonate with through the screen. And while we watch for their personalities and plots, our current favorite TV shows also have fashion inspiration that doesn’t hurt either.
Plus, you can pick them up at your local CVS right now!
Be it Daisy Jones, who single-handedly revived ’70s fashion in 2023, or Kate Galvin, whose posh, understated British fashion in You makes us want to break out our trench coats, if you’re looking for your next OOTD, you can look toward your favorite of-the-moment characters. As you peruse your next fashion purchase while cozied up on your couch watching your favorite show, these main character’s looks are bound to inspire.
1. Daisy Jones (Daisy Jones & The Six)
Summon a style straight from the ’70s with a vibe that would make Daisy Jones proud. If Daisy were shopping in 2023, she would probably opt for a pair of aviator sunnies and a colorful boho midi dress. Perfect for springtime, this combo is chic, laid-back, and worthy of a Fleetwood Mac-inspired rock star.
2. Ellie Williams (The Last Of Us)
Ellie might not have a choice in the contents of her wardrobe, but she rocks a casual, sporty look while fleeing from fungi-infested zombies. Classic sneakers are totally her aesthetic, paired with simple layering like this cargo button-up. These items are made for max comfort and are easy to throw on during a busy day (of trekking across the country with Pedro Pascal).
3. Georgia Miller (Ginny & Georgia)
Georgia Miller’s fashion is the perfect blend of party and business. When working in the mayor’s office, she opts for traditional attire with a trendy flare, often wearing a skirt and blouse with a stellar pair of shoes. In season two, we can spot her wearing a pink mini-skirt with pockets (she loves her colors), which would look very Georgia-esque alongside a neutral work tote.
4. Ginny Miller (Ginny & Georgia)
Georgia’s daughter, Ginny, embodies Gen-Z fashion at its finest. She’s got a closet full of crop tops, rivaling this classic ribbed shirt from H&M, and can also be seen with these Steve Madden Chelsea boots similar to those she wore in season two. Ginny will occasionally throw in a pop of color, but prefers neutrals in comparison to her mother’s color-heavy wardrobe.
5. Kate Galvin (You)
The latest chapter of You follows Joe Goldberg to London, where he becomes intertwined with a group of wealthy friends. Kate, his primary love interest of the season, is ultra suspicious, but—let’s face it—has a fantastic fashion sense. Best described as posh, Kate can be seen donning trendy oversize coats (that probably cost a billion dollars more than this Zara one) and earrings similar to these square hoops from Madewell.
6. Lady Phoebe Borehall-Blaxworth (You)
Kate’s best friend, Phoebe, is a socialite/social media influencer who graces every tabloid in England. She’s peppy and relentlessly optimistic, which translates into a bright and classic style with a modern twist. Phoebe would definitely throw on a jacket like this Zara find, accessorizing it alongside statement jewelry.
7. Harper Spiller (The White Lotus)
If you want a head start on summer, channel Harper’s style from The White Lotus. At the beginning of the series, before every character spirals into madness, Harper would rather spend the day reading on the beach than socializing. She can be spotted in an outfit reminiscent of this Old Navy fit: a simple bikini top with an oversized button-down for relaxed vibes only.
8. Daphne Sullivan (The White Lotus)
Despite her messy marriage, Daphne spends most of The White Lotus’s second season convincing herself to push through life, unbothered. She continually makes light of heavy issues both in her personal life and on a grander scale, symbolized through her wardrobe. An airy dress paired with groovy sunglasses embodies Daphne’s disturbing (but fashionable!) chillness.
9. Janine Teagues (Abbott Elementary)
According to Abbott Elementary’s costume designer, Janine Teagues’ wardrobe is budget-friendly to keep a sense of realism throughout the series. The devoted educator wears a ton of patterned dresses, paired with a cute belt or necklace to elevate the look. This flowy midi dress from Target would be easy to move around in during a chaotic day of teaching, and Janine might add this cute Old Navy belt for good measure.
10. Billie Connelly (Sex/Life)
This series focuses on the duality of one woman’s life, as she juggles being a mom, going through a divorce, and diving back into the dating world. Billie’s style varies drastically, depending on if she’s spending the day with her kids, Hudson and Ellary, or strutting through the city with her best friend, Sasha. If it’s the latter, she might wear something along the lines of this black one-shoulder dress, with a pop of color a la this fun NINA clutch.
11. Sophie Tompkins (How I Met Your Father)
When Sophie isn’t out and about in New York City, the main character of How I Met Your Father is usually at home discussing the plights of love, life, and careers with her roommate, Val. This type of night in requires loungewear in the form of fuzzy slippers and comfy sweatshorts.
12. Cleo (Outer Banks)
Cleo’s slouchy-chic look in Outer Banks has the same energy as these loose-fitted joggers from Lululemon. In another life, if she wasn’t running around with The Pogues, Cleo might match these comfy pants with a mini belt bag that isn’t too ‘girly’ but can hold all the necessities.
13. Sarah Cameron (Outer Banks)
Since Outer Banks’ rise to fame, Sarah Cameron’s style has paid homage to summertime on the beach. Sarah would no doubt pair this Old Navy tank, available in a myriad of colors, with these denim shorts from American Eagle.
14. Wednesday Addams (Wednesday)
If you’re still on that Wednesday kick, same. Even as spring looms, you can channel Nevermore Academy’s most morbid student with this vintage black-and-white striped crewneck from GAP, or these black loafers from Steve Madden. It’s subtle ‘mysterious and spooky’ vibes all year round.
