The 2019 skincare game is an altogether different beast. Gone are the days of unknowingly smearing products full of unknown, unhealthy ingredients onto our faces — labels have gotten clearer, products have gotten more potent, and we’re more informed of what we’re putting on our face than ever before.
The downside to kick-ass skincare is that more often than not, it comes with a price tag that can equal half your paycheck (and makes us dread the day we use that sacred last drop and have to make a repurchase). But brands are catching on quickly, and more and more affordable products that deliver results are popping up — this time on the shelves of Target (we really don’t deserve them, do we?)
Target’s latest skincare drop, Versed, took more than 11 years to create — and all of the products are under $20. The product packaging includes a set of icons to help you pinpoint the right products for your skin concerns (aging, dull, etc) and information about how to use the product, when to use it, and why it’s important. Their products are also upheld by Europe’s standard of clean beauty, which prohibits over 1,350 chemicals from products — compared to the United States’ prohibited list of 11.
Their debut dropped 19 products — from cleansers to eye creams to vitamin-C serums (which has already brightened my skin in a matter of days) — all of which are free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, added colors, and fragrances. The best part? They’re all vegan and cruelty-free. Move over $75 serum, there’s a new sheriff in town (and she’s going to look stunning in your medicine cabinet).
