  • Assist in developing overall design on projects
  • Assist in space plan development on projects
  • ‪Manage project budgets and negotiate bids
  • Communicate with vendors and showrooms to request quotes and track orders
  • Research products and assist with the selection and specification of finishes, lighting, equipment, and furniture
  • Prepare CAD drawings under the direction of Lead Designers
  • Prepare InDesign and Photoshop presentations under the direction of Lead Designers

  • Interior Design or Architectural Degree

Craig & Company, previously Lichten Craig Architecture + Interiors, is currently looking for a Designer/Project Manager in the Chicago-land area. RESPONSIBILITIES Candidate will report to the principal and senior design team, managing projects from programming through installation with care, judgment, and accuracy. Applicants must be able to multi-task and shift gears quickly, taking on a variety of projects and roles within a fast-paced, collaborative studio. For the right candidate, this is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work in a dynamic environment.

Ability to manage work well independently as well as within a team is crucial to success in the position. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must: describing status, process, direction, options, and resolutions are part of the day-to-day.


  • Assist the team in managing large-scale, long-term design projects from programming through installation.
  • Excellent design skills and decorative arts literacy; familiarity with architectural and interior design aesthetics.
  • Understand project sequencing; prioritize and manage time efficiently.
  • Prepare proposals and purchase orders, clearly articulating specifications within firm parameters.
  • Communicate with furniture vendors, including upholsterers, millworkers, and metalworkers to develop specifications and achieve design intent.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in preparing and executing graphic presentations.
  • See orders through to completion, managing issues and troubleshooting with creativity, composure, and drive.
  • Develop comprehensive design plans including floorplans, elevations, and FF&E sourcing.
  • Work fluidly as an independent and collaborative member of the team.
  • Present and sell to clients with and without Principal assistance.
  • Maintain a personable and professional attitude.


  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
  • Minimum 3-5 years high-end residential experience.
  • Additional hospitality, product/ furniture design, or textile design experience valued.
  • AutoCAD required.
  • Adobe Software Suite – PDF, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Studio Webware or similar project management software knowledge and proficiency desirable.
  • Google and MS office.

Nate Berkus Associates is looking for an intern for the semester beginning in August 2018 in our Chicago office. This position is two or three (2 or 3) days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities include maintenance of the sample library, assisting Designers and Design Assistants with pricing, quotes, and selection of materials which may require trips to the Merchandise Mart. Other duties may include Cad, drafting, and entry of specifications into our design tracking program, assisting with preparation of presentations as well as filing and other administrative duties.
