What do you do when the path you choose for your career doesn’t turn out to be what you thought it would be? This is the question I asked myself after becoming a nurse. I’ve always loved the profession, so it’s not like I doubted that it was for me, but something about the path I was on had me feeling stuck and unfulfilled. I wanted a deeper sense of purpose, and I had no idea where to find it.

To rediscover what I truly wanted in my career, I took a step away from nursing. I explored other passions, like writing, and thought long and hard about what path within nursing would better align with my passions. Then it hit me: I wanted a nursing job where I’d specifically be focused on women’s health—another passion of mine. I checked job postings daily to find something in alignment with this, but I was coming up short each time—until I discovered the 55×5 manifestation method.

After implementing the 55×5 manifestation method, I found my dream job, and after six months of thriving in the career path that I believe was truly meant for me, I have to tell you all about how to implement this method for yourself.

What is the 55×5 manifestation method?

The 55×5 manifestation method is a powerful manifestation technique based on the principles of the Law of Attraction, which says that whatever you put out into the universe is what you invite back into your life. By writing down your desired goal or affirmation 55 times for 5 consecutive days, the 55×5 method acts as a way for you to put your positive thoughts out into the world. In addition to writing, you align your thoughts with your goals, and you take the time to dedicate energy to fully believing in your affirmation.

While no specific person is credited with creating the 55×5 method technique, it is highly popular within the Law of Attraction and numerology communities (where numbers have vibrational energies that influence our lives). The number five represents change and growth. So, with angel numbers on your side and a positive mindset, it is believed that your desired outcome will come to fruition.

My experience with the 55×5 manifestation method

After months of searching for a nursing job I wanted to love, I felt irritated that I hadn’t found the perfect opportunity yet, and I didn’t want to settle. I wanted to find the right position that aligned with my goals and lifestyle, so I wrote down exactly what it would look like if I did: “I am thriving in a fulfilling career in women’s health, where I can grow personally and professionally, receive a paycheck that meets my needs, and enjoy showing up to every day.” This became my affirmation.

Though writing out my (very long) affirmation 55 times for five days felt tedious, I was willing to put in the work if it meant I’d find my dream job. It couldn’t hurt, right? Each morning, I took an hour to write out my manifestation and devoted the remainder of the day to feeling as if I was already working in my dream job. I thought about how it felt to work in a new job, what kind of work I would be doing, and even thought about the people I would be working with. I daydreamed about the types of patients I would help and even thought about the scrubs I’d wear on my first day. Finally, I knew what I wanted, and I let myself feel like it was already happening each day for five days.

After five days, I allowed myself to head back online to look at job postings, and right away, the very first post I came across was a Fertility Nursing position just a short distance from where I lived. The posting noted that my job would entail working with women and families trying to have children. Even though I didn’t have direct fertility nursing experience, I tailored my resume to highlight any similar skills I had to offer (which I believe was crucial!) and applied for the position. Within one day, my phone rang with an offer to set up an initial interview at the clinic. After three rounds of interviews and meeting the clinic’s management team, I was hired on the spot.

Does the 55×5 manifestation manifestation method work?

The short answer, in my experience, is YES. Looking back on my manifestation, I noticed that I was able to check off each goal in my affirmation: I’m working in a field I enjoy, I work specifically with women and families, focusing my knowledge on cycle monitoring and women’s health, I have already secured a raise, and my hours align well with my family dynamic.

So yes, after testing out the 55×5 manifestation method, I can personally attest that this manifestation technique is powerful! But that’s not to say that this method did all the work—I don’t believe manifestation is magic. I put in the time and effort to tailor my resume, look for jobs regularly, and flex my interview skills—all of which played a part in my landing the job.

“The 55×5 method is a great way to focus on your goals and zero in on what type of position you are looking for, but it’s still up to you to put in the work to achieve your dream job”

The 55×5 manifestation method is a great way to focus on your goals and zero in on what type of position you are looking for, but it’s still up to you to put in the work to achieve your dream job. This technique is meant to work alongside your efforts while you network, hone in on your skills, and take the time to draft the perfect resume for the job you want.

How to implement the 55×5 manifestation method

Define your career goals clearly

Now is not the time to be vague. Define exactly what you want next in your career and write it down. Think about the hours you’d like to work, the distance you’re willing to travel, and the pay rate that suits your lifestyle. Is there a specific position you’d like to step into? What about a particular company? Don’t leave any details to chance!

Craft a specific and positive affirmation

Now that you know what your goals are, tailor your affirmation to that. Try to be positive and specific about what you want. For instance, “I am a driven writer, helping spread the word about mental health while making a great income and traveling around North America.” This can be as long or as short as you want it to be. Just keep in mind that you’re going to be writing it 55 times, so it helps to be succinct.

Create a dedicated space for manifestation

Find a quiet, comfortable spot. Choose somewhere that you won’t be interrupted by others and try to make this space a retreat that you look forward to going to for five days. Light your favorite candle, play calming music, and add colorful pillows—whatever makes you feel the most comfortable and inspired.

Visualize while writing

Imagine yourself already in the dream job: What are you wearing? What are your co-workers like? How do you look? Imagine others’ excitement when you tell them about getting the job. Try and feel as if you’ve already signed the contract while you’re writing. Remember, what you put out in the world comes back to you!

Stay consistent and committed

Commit to writing your affirmation 55 times for five days without skipping. This can feel tedious and is the hardest part, but dedicate the time and energy knowing it’ll pay off. It helps to block time in your calendar for when you’ll do the 55×5 method—this way, you know you’ll have time to get to it. I liked writing my affirmations first thing in the morning, but you might find that lunchtime or before bed works for you.

Maintain a positive mindset

If doubt creeps in, counter your negative thoughts by reminding yourself that you are deserving of your dream job. You’ve worked hard, you’re passionate, and you are worthy. It takes time and effort to achieve big goals, so don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t happen fast. This is just the beginning of you achieving your dreams.

Reflect and take action

After five days, take note of any ideas, opportunities, or shifts in your mindset and start actively pursuing steps to achieve your dream job. Things like going to networking events, applying for jobs, zhuzhing your resume, and seeking education that aligns with your vision can all put you on the path to achieving your goal.
