Outdoor Voices is back, or should we say, Ty Haney is back. The founder who launched the cult-favorite activewear brand in her early 20s—and stepped down in 2020 amid allegations of mismanagement and overspending—has officially returned. At the end of July, Haney posted a heartfelt reel on Instagram in collaboration with OV, simply captioned: “We’re back baby.” Within hours, the post racked up nearly 22,000 likes and a flurry of excited comments, with fans calling it “safe to shop again.”

If you lived through the peak Doing Things era, you remember it well. Haney launched Outdoor Voices at 23, fresh out of Parsons, with a disruptive vision that blended athleticwear with lifestyle appeal. Her minimalist color-blocked leggings, sporty-meets-casual silhouettes, and iconic tagline made the brand a street style staple by the late 2010s. Whether it was on the back of leggings or printed on canvas totes slung over shoulders from LA to NYC, OV was everywhere—until it wasn’t.

Haney’s departure in 2020 coincided with a broader industry downturn. By March 2024, the brand had shuttered all retail locations and shifted fully to e-commerce, now owned by a larger parent company. Loyalists watched the brand lose its spark—less color, less innovation, and an identity crisis that no “core basics” drop could fix. But when Haney started hinting at a return, excitement stirred. A sneak peek of the new collection was enough to send the group chats into overdrive.

Now, the wait is over. Haney’s comeback collection is officially here, and while some fan favorites are getting a refresh, the new Outdoor Voices is clearly aiming higher. As Haney puts it, it’s “more fashion-forward,” while also shifting toward natural materials in addition to the brand’s signature technical fabrics. The collection nods to the OV of yesteryear, but through a more trend-savvy lens: script-font logos replace the iconic block lettering; cardigans stand in for fleece zip-ups; pleated skorts bring a tennis-club-meets-Y2K vibe to the classic warm-up skort.

It’s not exactly the colorway restock fans begged for, but it’s not trying to be. It’s OV, reimagined. Among the standouts: a Missoni-inspired bra-and-short set that leans unapologetically bold, and the elevated Energy Dress (Haney’s personal favorite), which feels equally ready for a city stroll or a Pilates class. If the past is any indication, this collection won’t stay in stock for long. Scroll on to shop our edit of the must-have pieces, before they’re gone (again).
