Costco has long been a destination to get your high-quality favorites at a more affordable price. Yes, it comes with the caveat of purchasing enough to feed a small army. Still, with rumors of Kirkland leggings made in the same factory as Lululemon and its signature vodka being the same as Grey Goose (an urban legend Grey Goose has denied), you can’t deny their products are incredible. But unfortunately, a new recall is coming for one of my personal favorite Costco purchases, Kirkland prosecco, and the defect is dangerous… and a little ironic. Here’s everything you need to know about the Costco prosecco recall.
Which Costco prosecco is being recalled?
In a message sent out to customers, Costco warned members who purchased the Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene between April 26, 2025, and August 26, 2025 (item #1879870) in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, or South Dakota that the recall could impact their bottle. Specifically, they’re at risk for the bottle exploding and shattering, even before it’s opened. If you have a bottle, be very careful; they can explode even when not being handled or used. What should you do if you have the recalled Costco prosecco?
The risk of handling these bottles is so high that Costco is instructing customers not to even return them to the store. Instead, they recommend throwing away the bottle immediately by carefully wrapping the unopened prosecco bottle in paper towels and placing it in a plastic bag before disposing of it in the garbage. Then, you can bring an email or letter you should have received if you were an affected customer to Costco for a full refund.
