A Busy Woman’s Hack for Never Forgetting a Birthday

For as long as I can remember, I’ve relied on Facebook to keep track of friends’ and family members’ birthdays. But as I’ve grown older and busier—and my friends have nearly stopped using Facebook altogether—I realized that I needed a more reliable way to stay on top of important dates. I can’t count the number of times I darted to the drugstore to comb through an unimpressive collection of generic birthday cards, or worse, remembered a birthday only after seeing someone else’s post on Instagram. After typing a few too many belated birthday texts, it became clear that I needed a better system. And I was ready to make celebrating birthdays fun again instead of just another thing to add to my to-do list.

Enter Moonpig: the ultimate solution to my forgetfulness. This UK-based greeting card service has so many features I didn’t know I needed that it’s become my secret weapon for never missing a birthday again.

Why I can’t shut up about Moonpig:

You can create custom cards they’ll want to keep

Moonpig has an intuitive app that allows you to customize and send cards while on the train, at your desk, waiting for coffee, etc. There are thousands of actually cute cards to choose from and fun ways to customize them with personal photos, text, and stickers. They even offer AI personalized message creation, so you don’t have to be a literal poet to include a thoughtful message.

You can set up annual birthday reminders to never forget again

Where they got me for life: Moonpig will send you push notifications and calendar reminders before a birthday or big event comes up. So, you have plenty of time to create and send something special instead of throwing together something last-minute.

They’ll mail the card (and more!) right to the recipient

Save yourself the drama of digging for stamps in random drawers and trekking to the post office. Moonpig will ship your card straight to their door, or you can get it shipped directly to you (so you don’t show up empty-handed to any party or event). Moonpig allows you to schedule delivery in advance, so I set aside a couple hours to create and schedule as many cards as possible at once—then I know I’m not forgetting anyone and my cards will get there in time. If you want to earn extra brownie points, you can include gift cards for their favorite stores like Ulta, Barnes & Noble, and more without a trip to the outlet mall.
