When space is in short supply, dreams of a home office often go out the window. Here’s the good news: You can create a workspace in even the tiniest of homes. Having a space dedicated to work is great for productivity and is a much better alternative than trying to work on the couch or in bed. Whether you work from home or not, having a proper place to sit and write, read, blog, or create is always a good idea. Read on to find out how to create a home office, even in the smallest of spaces.

Creative Closets
A spare closet can be a great place to create a workspace. Simply install a counter and shelves and you have yourself a perfect office nook.

Bedside Office
Place a small desk next to your bed in lieu of a bedside table. You will still have a surface for a lamp, books, and your alarm clock, but will also have a place to sit and focus when you need to get down to business.

Neat Nooks
First, assess any empty or unused corners of your home, whether it be in a hallway, pantry corner, or even under the stairs! In order to build yourself an office nook, all you need is a few feet of space, a small table or counter, and some creativity.

Great ideas! I have my tucked away in my weirdly large entry way right now. The space is perfect. But there is zero natural light…so it turns into a dumping ground for mail and bills :/

May have to use a few of these ideas to brighten it up a bit! 🙂

  • I love the closet idea and wish I had a spare closet to do this! I work from home and recently had to rethink my “home office” in my small apartment. I finally settled on the IKEA Norden table that multitasks as my desk during the day and dining table at night (sometimes I split it in half).

  • Thanks for posting this! Such awesome ideas! Living in San Francisco doesn’t leave me much for space so all of these ideas were wonderful! :o)

  • Cute ideas! I’m decorating my office right now!

I love this post! Finding office space in tiny apartments requires a lot of creativity. In my NYC apartment, we have the computer and desk combined with our bookshelves. These are all wonderful ideas!

  • Such cute ideas! Currently my “desk” is my bed and my actual desk is covered in products to review. I definitely need to make it a proper work space.

I’m currently using the living room workspace desk, though I wish I had the space to do the creative closet one as well!

such lovely inspirations! I totally thought this would be more applicable to me (I have a half-bedroom sized office/closet combo) but am none the less inspired!

  • Space workspaces are tough but I love it when they can blend in with the decor.

  • Great ideas, theses days it’s hard not to have an area for a home office. Thanks for sharing.
