By now everyone knows that here at The Everygirl, we’re huge fans of a capsule wardrobe and investing in basics that you can wear again and again. One of the best parts about having a few go-to essentials is that you can wear them through multiple seasons—and exercise you fashion creativity in switching up your styling as the months (and trends) come and go.
We all have a couple basics that we wear and re-wear until people start commenting that they might be the only things that we own. However, I’m a strong believer that you can breathe new life into any piece of clothing with some fresh accessories or by jumping on a trend.
I scroll through Pinterest almost daily to see how all the ~cool fashion girls~ are putting outfits together, and then try—and sometimes fail—to copy them. So after all of my very important research (aka social media scrolling), I’m here to share my findings with the world. Here are new ways to style six of your everyday wardrobe basics for spring:
Your go-to neutral sweater: a monochrome look
I probably own at least 10 neutral sweaters. Throw one on with jeans and booties and you’ve got my everyday uniform. But, I’ve also been obsessing over a monochromatic *moment* this season. So what better time to try it out than now?!

Your favorite jeans: denim on denim
Many people are afraid of denim on denim, fearing that it might look silly or like too much. Accentuated with the right accessories, however, it can be a super cute look that appears put-together, yet still trendy.

Your printed midi skirt: with a neon sweater
Neons, neons, neons! They’re all the rage for this spring. If you haven’t jumped on board yet, pairing a chunky knit neon sweater with your leopard midi is the perfect place to start. Daring, but not too much.

Your best blazer: dressed down with a t-shirt
Blazers are no longer just for the businesspeople of the world. Dressing one down by wearing it over a graphic T-shirt with super casual jeans and printed mules is one of my absolute favorite looks right now.

Your leather jacket: with an athleisure outfit
You might reserve your leather jacket for a night out or a dinner date, but throwing it on over a hoodie and leggings is just as cute. It takes your athleisure outfit to a whole new level—serving major model-off-duty vibes.

Your classic button-down: layered with a fun turtleneck
This pairing may seem a little out there, but trust me on this one (because the Pinterest fashion girls told me so!). Putting your white button-down on over a patterned turtleneck is the perfect way to add a little bit of flair to an otherwise plain outfit.
