The 5 Most Common Hair Issues… Solved!

Let’s be serious. The road to healthy hair is paved with more products, tips, and tricks than we know what to do with. Talk about overwhelming! Sometimes it’s nice to have simple hair solutions given to you straight from the experts, rather than reading fifteen different articles on different ways to mend split ends. So, that’s exactly what we’re bringing you today. As a salon, fashion week, and editorial stylist with over 18 years experience, Cutler/Redken Stylist Jenny Balding shared with us how you can overcome the five most common hair issues. Read on for great hair!

Issue 1: Lack of Volume

Lack of volume can be caused by a variety of reasons, but most common is using the wrong shampoo or conditioner for your hair type followed by using conditioner all over instead of only the mid-length to ends. Yet, it’s an easy problem to fix and makes a huge difference. Balding recommends a product that gently cleanses and provides weightless volume, much like the Redken Body Full Shampoo and Conditioner, as it gives body, movement, and shine. For extra volume and hydration, try a multi-purpose product like the Samy Fat Hair Leave-In Conditioner and Styler, which repairs hair while adding volume.

Issue 2: Damage Control

Be gentle when detangling your wet hair to prevent damage. Use a large-tooth comb or brush designed to detangle wet hair (wet hair is very fragile and most damage can be done at this point). Balding recommends The Wet Brush. It effortlessly glides through wet, tangled hair and eliminates tearing, tugging, and pulling!

Issue 3: Dull Hair

Product buildup can cause dull hair, especially when product is used constantly overtime. Make sure to use a clarifying shampoo once per week to rid buildup — this will bring back life into your color and bounce back into your hair! You can also use a clarifying serum, much like the Balanced Guru Scalp Detox Treatment. This detoxifying scalp treatment is made with USDA certified organic ingredients as a natural way to dissolve oils and buildup for a clean, clear surface. Plus, it’s 100% cruelty-free, recyclable, and biodegradable.

Issue 4: Split Ends

Have your hair trimmed every 8-12 weeks as this will keep your hair in healthy condition — dry, damaged ends split and travel further up the hair shaft if you don’t remove them. Keep the ends of your hair healthy in between trims by applying a leave-in oil, like the Weleda Rosemary Conditioning Hair Oil. This deep-conditioning treatment restores moisture, softens split ends, and adds radiant shine as it penetrates.

Issue 5: “I Just Want Healthy Hair!”

How can you make your hair more lustrous, thick, and healthy? It really makes a difference if you eat a healthy, balanced diet, drink plenty of water, and take a multivitamin each day. Like your skin, your hair represents what you put into your body. Have you tried hair supplements? If you want to promote healthy hair growth through vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids, you might consider the PHYTO Phytophanère Hair And Nails Dietary Supplement. It also helps to strengthen nails, illuminate skin, and lengthen lashes. We also love the Viviscal Hair Growth Supplements!
