These days, Anthropologie is my go-to for accessories (especially bags) and some special-occasion pieces. So whenever the beginning of a new season is just around the corner, I’ll clear an afternoon for a deep dive and a closet refresh. If your style is somewhere in the sweet spot between “I want to try the trends I see all over my FYP” and “I would also like to wear this next year,” I think this fall drop absolutely nails it.
I decided to narrow my fall refresh down to just three pieces—and, after making my way through the new collection, these were the ones I couldn’t stop thinking about.
After making my way through the new collection (which, admittedly, was a dangerous activity for my credit card), three pieces immediately stood out to me. Each one scratches a different fashion itch of mine, but they all have the same thing going for them: They’re statement-making without feeling like I’m going to look back at photos and wonder what on earth I was wearing.
I’ve been on the hunt for a statement bag, and this red woven one was calling my name. I’m a sucker for the woven leather look—I still use my black mini one from Anthropologie circa 2021 weekly. But I especially love the red because it’s a pop that can work year-round.
I’m envisioning this as the focal point of a pretty “plain” outfit. Think simple basics that look chic but really pull all of your attention to the star of the show. One thing I wasn’t expecting was the size. It’s a bit bigger than I thought it’d be, so it’s definitely more of a daytime tote than a dinner or going-out bag. Which, honestly, I don’t mind because I love a statement piece that can actually be functional.
Apparently, this summer was the summer of the poncho. And I’m more than happy to bring the trend into fall. I kept seeing lightweight ponchos all over Euro summer outfit inspiration and loved the idea of styling one over a bralette or bathing suit. This black version feels like the perfect cold-weather evolution. It’s cozy and thick, but the fringe edge gives it sort of an elegant, trendy feel that keeps it from looking like I’m just walking around in a very nice blanket (no judgment if that’s your fall uniform).
I’ll be styling it with a mini skirt or shorts and boots for a daytime look. When I want to feel a bit more put together, I’ll pair it with a maxi skirt and ballet flats. It’s worth noting that it’s one size, so the fit will vary. I typically wear an XS or S, and found it to be an oversized, relaxed fit.
After saving a million suede jackets to my fall outfit inspiration Pinterest board, I finally decided that I’ve been without one for long enough. I’ll admit I was tempted by some of the cheaper faux-suede options. But I knew I’d probably regret not investing in a quality piece if I ended up loving the trend. Enter this 100-percent-leather beauty. It’s definitely a splurge, but I think it’s the kind of classic piece I’ll be wearing for years rather than just a handful of times before I get tired of it.
I typically wear an XS or S depending on the piece and went with an XS for a more tailored fit, which ended up being perfect. It’s not roomy enough for a chunky sweater underneath, but tanks, tees, and long-sleeves work perfectly. For styling, I’m keeping it simple. I’m picturing a white-on-white outfit with this jacket thrown over top for an easy look that still feels intentional.
