Carrie Bradshaw is known for many things: an impressive shoe collection, fabulous hair, and penning her observations on the NYC sex and dating scene, to name just a few. Since Sex and the City debuted in 1998, however, her character has divided audiences. Some viewers identify with her ceaseless curiosity and quirky style and will proudly declare themselves “a Carrie,” while others roll their eyes at her self-absorbed nature and incessant bad decisions (cough cough cheating on Aiden). Regardless of your feelings toward Carrie, you can’t argue with the fact that she is one of the most iconic characters in television history. We have watched her character evolve over six seasons, two movies, and a reboot, and much has changed since that original pilot episode. Decades have passed, and characters have come and gone (we still miss you, Samantha), but one thing has remained the same: Carrie’s fabulous apartment.
This Baggy Dad style from Levi’s is a tried-and-true favorite our team swears by, made famous by an effortlessly cool fit and PJ-like comfort.
Since that very first episode, the apartment has been at the heart of the show. It’s where Carrie tells Big to go to Paris, where she was unforgettably broken up with via a Post-it note, and where she always just “couldn’t help but wonder…” Carrie may have moved around a few times, but her Manolo Blahniks always led her back to the Upper East Side. If Carrie Bradshaw still lived there in 2024, here’s what we think her apartment would look like.
Living Room
Carrie Bradshaw’s living room speaks to her interests. The space is littered with books and magazines, and as is typical for any dedicated writer, her desk is a focal point. In 2024, she would stay true to her literary instincts while also fully embracing her eclectic tastes. Just like with her outfits, her living room would boldly mix patterns and decor styles. Even when combining things that seem like they shouldn’t pair well together, Carrie always pulls it off seamlessly.
Kitchen
Carrie famously doesn’t use her kitchen at all. In fact, she uses the oven as more storage for her glamorous wardrobe. Her 2024 kitchen would be all about aesthetics, not function. She would opt for unique pieces that show her personality and look cute on the kitchen counter but aren’t necessarily the most practical. The only appliance that might get some use is the microwave, which she would use to heat up her DoorDash order.
Bedroom
While Carrie’s sage green wall is a staple in the show, I think she would 100 percent be on board with the wallpaper renaissance in 2024. A statement wallpaper behind her bed would be the perfect maximalist touch in keeping with her bold style and personality. For accessories, Carrie is the type to collect all sorts of unique items that tell a story rather than sticking to one specific design aesthetic. And, of course, her bed needs to be plush and comfortable enough for hours spent reading or lamenting over her love life.
Closet
In Carrie Bradshaw’s world, the closet is the most important room in an apartment. Others might consider the closet as merely a storage area for clothes, but for Carrie, it’s more like a museum. I have to assume by 2024, she has knocked down a wall or two to expand her closet to make room for more purchases. With her newfound space, she would try to replicate the inside of Barneys (RIP) so she has plenty of room to style and display her outfits.
