These days, a new nail trend seems to sweep the internet every week, each more elaborate than the last. The never-ending cycle can get a little fatiguing, especially when the barrier to entry to participate requires three hours, a couple hundred bucks, and a highly skilled nail artist at the ready. But thankfully, jelly nails, the newest food-inspired nail trend taking over my social media feeds, are shockingly easy to recreate (I’m talking DIY-at-home easy). Scroll on for the jelly nail inspiration you’ll want to save for your next manicure.
What are jelly nails?
Like many of our favorite skincare habits and products, jelly nails originated in South Korea. Jelly nails are all about semi-sheer pigment that allows for some of the natural nail to shine through. Coupled with an ultra-shiny top coat, it gives the same delectable, juicy effect as—you guessed it—a freshly opened jar of jelly.
Jelly nail inspiration
1. Light blue jelly nails

As someone who rarely departs from her go-to light blue at the salon, I need this dreamy, jelly blue on my nails immediately. It’s a fun twist on a classic color that’s perfect for summer.
2. Neutral jelly nails

If you usually avoid bright nail colors, that doesn’t mean you can’t still participate in the jelly trend. Opt for a sheer, neutral nail polish like the one above for a jelly effect that doesn’t require straying from your classic palette.
3. Sheer pink jelly nails

Bubble Bath girls, you’ll love this jelly manicure that incorporates the slightest tinge of pink.
4. Red jelly nails
The red nail train is always chugging along the track, and while I’ll never part with a classic red manicure, we’re definitely due for an update. This jelly twist is just the thing for summer.
5. Rainbow jelly nails
Why choose one color when rainbow looks this good? It’s the ideal manicure for anyone who’s indecisive about their manicures.
6. White jelly nails

If you want to keep things clean and simple, you can never go wrong with a white manicure.
