One thing about 2023? She keeps you on your toes. Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn breaking up? The rise of cottage cheese as the internet’s favorite snack? The return of ballet flats?! All things I didn’t know to add to my bingo card back in January. But chief among 2023’s surprises for me is the emergence of Sofia Richie as the new it-girl and face of quiet luxury. She had us all absolutely glued to TikTok when she got married earlier this year, and at the center of it all was her beauty routine.
If you feel like you've missed the boat on ordering anything custom, allow us to introduce you to CVS Photo. With price points that are super affordable paired with their same-day pickup option, they’re a holiday procrastinator’s best friend.
Thankfully, makeup artist Pati Dubroff decided not to gatekeep the products she used to create Sofia’s wedding weekend glow. And it’s a good thing, too, because in a world where every other GRWM video uses the same Rare Beauty or Charlotte Tilbury products (no hate, they are that girl), Sofia Richie’s go-to blush and bronzer duo is a little unexpected. Enter: Nudestix.
Nudestix products are all designed to be multi-tasking and to enhance your natural features for a “nude but better” look. In short, their products are a no-makeup-makeup girl’s dream. After testing a few of their products for a couple of months now, I’m finally ready to report back—but let me get the important part out of the way: my Nudestix products are the ones I now reach for the most often when I’m getting ready.
The Blush and Bronzer Combo
Sofia Richie Grainge’s Wedding Makeup Tutorial
During Sofia Richie’s wedding weekend, Dubroff used the Nudies Cream Blush All-Over-Face Color in Picante and the Nudies Matte Cream Bronzer in Sunkissed to create the perfect wedding-day combo. Since then, Sofia admitted she was a bit taken aback by the choice of Picante, which is a bright coral shade. I get it—it’s an intimidating color when you look at it, but on the skin it’s a beautiful, slightly darker peach flush that’s what tomato-girl dreams are made of. When combined with a bronzer that suits your skin tone (Richie’s wedding day ‘Sunkissed’ shade is actually perfect for me), it creates a glowy, spent-the-day-in-the-sun look that I’ll reach for year-round.
While the color combination is great, and one I could go on and on about, what really shocked me was the Nudestix formula. When I tell you I have never had blush or bronzer products that blend so well, I truly mean it. Cream blushes can often end up patchy unless you prep your skin just right, while liquid blushes can simply be a nightmare to blend if you don’t have a practiced hand. I apply the Nudestix blush by swiping a brush across the top of the product and dabbing it into my skin and it blends seamlessly while having great color payoff to boot.
I’ve used pretty much every major cream bronzer on the market, and I know everyone has their faves. Whether it’s the color or the formulation, I find most cream bronzers either don’t blend well or look muddy on my skin. The Nudestix cream bronzer is the first product I’ve tried that actually warms and contours my face with no harsh lines or patchiness. I’ll be repurchasing this product for the rest of my life.
The Eye Look
I’m all about simple eye looks these days. While I used to use multiple different shades, spend ages perfecting a cat eye, and do a cut crease every single day, I’ve since course-corrected in the complete opposite direction. For a while, this meant forgoing eyeshadow altogether and just putting a sweep of bronzer on my lids. While I’ll still do that on days I want zero fuss, I’ve recently started experimenting with super easy eyeshadow looks using one-and-done products.
As Nudestix’s whole thing is no-fuss makeup, it’s no surprise they’ve perfected the simple eye product, too. For Sofia Richie’s rehearsal dinner, Pati Dubroff used the Nudestix Magnetic Eye Color in Slate for a subtle smoky wash of color and the barest hint of a rosy blush on the lid.
I love that this eye look is simple enough to recreate for a night out while still giving just a touch of drama. The slate color can also be intimidating, but Pati didn’t lead us astray with Picante and she followed that through with this shade. The pigment is super buildable, so if you’re only looking for a small wash of color, you can absolutely achieve that. I’ve been using it on the outer corner of my eyes and blending out for a subtle smoky wing.
As for the formula, it’s as easy to use and blend as the blush and bronzer. I apply it directly to my lid and then blend it out with a blending brush. To recreate Richie’s full rehearsal dinner eye look, I use the cream blush in Naughty N’ Spice on the center of the lid. It’s not an exact match for the Chanel one, but I love this color both on my eyes and as a blush.
Other Nudestix Products to Try
After trying and loving Slate, I knew I needed to get my hands on more shades of the Magnetic Eye Color pencil. The shade Terra is the perfect neutral shade for everyday wear. I’ll either wear it alone or with a bit of Slate in the outer corner for a smidge of drama.
That same Magnetic Eye Color pencil I’ve been raving about, but with a nude shimmer. I love using this either by itself or with my other pencils for an eye look that’s so easy I barely have to think about it.
This super hydrating lip balm doubles as a blush, so on days I’m rushing to get ready I can hit two birds with one stone. The shade Pulse is a rosy plum that’s perfect for fall, so if you see me around you can bet I’ll be wearing this.
I have a pretty severe allergy to most plumping lip products, so I haven’t tested these out myself. That said, this lip balm set is a steal when you compare it to other lip balms currently on the market. With three tinted shades and ingredients meant to lock-in hydration and provide all day gloss, these are a win all-around.
While I haven’t tried this myself yet, I absolutely love Nudestix’s other All Over Color products, so I’m sure this is just as good. If you’re looking for a highlight that blends like a dream and can be used on your eyes, cheeks, and lips, you’ve found it.
In keeping with their less-is-more approach to makeup products, the Nudies Matte + Glow Core blush features their Nudies matte cream color with a Nudies glow skin highlight core. I can confirm these blend just as beautifully as the other Nudestix face products, with the added bonus of providing a wash of color and glow all in one swipe.
You’ve heard me rave about the Nudies bronzer enough by now, but if you’re looking for another shade in Sofia Richie’s arsenal, she uses this one with the Picante blush all the time.
