Their annual Pinterest Predicts report outlines the not-yet-trending ideas they expect to blow up in the next 12 months, and every year, their predictions are pretty much spot-on. Lest we forget: After Pinterest coined the term “fisherman aesthetic” in their 2025 report, the trend became absolutely inescapable in both fashion and home decor over the past year. We can debate the chicken-or-egg of it all, but the fact remains that when Pinterest releases their trend predictions, I’m fully sat.
Especially when it comes to home trends, I’m always eager to see what new ideas are making their way to the forefront. And, at least according to Pinterest, design in 2026 is about to get bolder, punchier, and a whole lot more fun. These are the home trends you may not be seeing yet, but according to Pinterest, you’re about to:
1. Boho decor with African influences
Don’t worry—this is not the boho-chic trend of the early aughts. Think: less macrame and all-neutral-everything, more emphasis on African heritage and craftsmanship. A fusion of African and bohemian styles, this home trend revolves around elements like colorful textiles, handwoven baskets, natural fiber rugs, and artisan-made accents rooted in African culture. According to Pinterest, searches for “afrobohemian home decor” are up 220% compared to last year, with users specifically seeking inspo for how to decorate with traditional Nigerian textiles and Ethiopian wall art. It’s a colorful spin on boho style that keeps the warmth and free-spirited feel, but adds a sense of history and culture.
2. Futuristic shapes and finishes
Trend-forecasting obviously requires forward-thinking, but this trend skips well past 2026 and into the next millennium. Pointing to an 80% increase in searches for “alien core aesthetic,” Pinterest predicts we’ll see an uptick in all things intergalactic across beauty, fashion, and home. In interiors, this trend manifests through metallic finishes, iridescent colors, and futuristic furniture shapes that look straight out of The Jetsons. I’m already seeing evidence of this trend emerging through the prevalence of curved sofa designs and polished chrome decor, but it’s poised to really take off in the coming year.
3. Circus-inspired interiors
This trend might sound wacky at first, but I’m already seeing signs of the circus aesthetic creeping into interiors. The biggest example: Stripes, especially in punchy, tone-on-tone color combos, are currently everywhere. The Pinterest report cites an increase in searches for “circus interior” (up 130% from last year), as well as elements like “striped ceiling” and “circus art.” It’s a trend that works particularly well in kids’ spaces—searches for “circus nursery” are up 50%—but also in any room that could use a little more whimsy. And if you’re picturing creepy clown faces and an actual big-top tent in your living room, it’s not that literal. A few pared-back accents—a pop of red here, a fun striped pattern there—is all you really need.
4. Modern Art Deco influences
Consider this trend a modern spin on Gatsby-era glam. Although Art Deco dates back to the 1910s, Pinterest predicts this style will see a resurgence in 2026 as people crave a more colorful, personality-driven alternative to minimalism. This time around, the look will revolve around geometric details, chrome and brass finishes, and luxe materials like marble and leather. According to Pinterest’s report, searches are already rising for Art Deco-adjacent terms like “red marble bathroom” and “brass aesthetic.” At least when it comes to interiors, it seems quiet luxury’s reign may be coming to an end as trends move in a bolder, more opulent direction.
