Ah, commitment. Some of us thrive in it, and some of us fear it. There’s a good chance it will come up in any romantic relationship, but until it does, you never know how the other person feels about it. As for myself, I learned about dating from rom-com movies, which didn’t exactly set me up for reality. After a few real relationships in adulthood, I decided that being with one person was not for me. Eventually, I changed my mind, but it was a rollercoaster I wasn’t prepared for. I mean, does anyone enjoy fielding the “what are we?” questions?
Whether or not you’ve been in a committed relationship or want to be single as long as possible, your zodiac sign can be an indicator of how you approach partnerships. (I wish I knew this sooner!) Three zodiac signs reject the idea that they need to find a partner, making them likely to avoid commitment in a romantic relationship. So, if you’re focused on the here and now or are casually dating someone who is, look to the stars to find out where you stand with commitment.
Capricorn

A Capricorn’s work is never done. This includes their endless list of goals, whether they are career goals like learning a new skill or personal goals like working out consistently. As an Earth sign, Capricorns stay grounded in their work, remaining laser-focused on the tasks they need to complete and tackling difficult projects with extreme attention to detail. So while you can always count on a Capricorn to meet a deadline, you might not always be able to count on them being on time for a dinner date.
Romance often falls to the bottom of a Capricorn’s priority list. While being in a relationship is work (and can be fun work), Capricorns may not always recognize this when their career goals seem much more urgent. Instead, you’re more likely to find Capricorns dating when they have time, or fully enjoying their single life. Capricorns also have an extreme sense of caution, so it takes them longer to build the trust required to be in a committed relationship.
Scorpio

Scorpios are often portrayed as mysterious, withdrawn, and elusive, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t observing everything around them. In fact, they often see a lot more than they let on, preferring to keep their opinions to themselves. This can be seen in many of the aloof main characters in romantasy novels, such as Xaden Riorson in The Empyrean Saga, who uses literal shadows to conceal himself. Like Xaden, Scorpios have little interest in revealing their innermost selves to anyone. They try to avoid social situations in general, because small talk is even worse than deep conversation. And when it comes to navigating romance? That’s too much drama for a Scorpio.
To preserve their elusiveness, Scorpios avoid commitment altogether. Their instinct will usually be to keep themselves hidden, however, as a water sign, a Scorpio’s sense of self will ebb and flow with their mood. Most days, Scorpios will feel like introverts, but on rare occasions, they’ll transform into extroverts, bursting out of their shells to seek companionship. Because of this conflicting nature, Scorpios will always keep their partners guessing, much like the will-they-won’t-they plotlines of our favorite books.
Aquarius

Aquariuses are drawn to the beauty of romance, especially the adventures that come with it, but that’s often as far as their imagination goes. Ultimately, an Aquarius will travel wherever their heart leads them, and that direction may change from time to time. While they absolutely love being social, they won’t stay in one social circle for long. An Aquarius needs constant inspiration for their wild ideas and goals, and routine can often stifle that intrinsic need. Instead, they will live their life on their own terms, whether or not they’re single or dating.
An Aquarius will sometimes like the idea of commitment as an exploration of the experience, but struggle with it in practice. In most situations, they’ll do anything to maintain their independence. While some Aquariuses seem scattered in their relationships through their thoughts and actions, this is typically just a sign of restlessness. An air sign like an Aquarius needs constant change, which doesn’t bode well for commitment.
