Anyone who knows me personally knows that I tend to be hyperbolic—a trait that suits me well as a writer. So when I said I needed to try everything from the Kosas line, I don’t literally mean everything. However, I did test out a wide range of their products after hearing beauty experts rave about almost every product in their line again and again. Many of their makeup products have skin-enhancing benefits which is a pretty ideal combo for a beauty writer.
When I saw the brand listed on my go-to site for clean beauty products I knew I had to finally try their products out. Spoiler alert—the online buzz didn’t disappoint. Keep reading for detailed reviews of all the products I tried.
I know summer is coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean I’m willing to relinquish my summer glow. The Color + Light: Crème duo in velvet melon is the perfect travel-friendly blush and highlighter combo. The coral blush and the light champagne highlighter are a great way to warm up my makeup look. I use the blush on my cheeks and lips and use the highlighter all over and on my eyes for a fast and simple makeup look.
I’ve always been a lip gloss girl, but I never paid much attention to plumping glosses because I associate them with the cinnamon scented torture devices of my teen years. The shade Dip of the Wet Lip Oil Plumping Treatment Gloss was so pretty that I decided to give plumping glosses another chance. There is literally no tingling or burning here, but my lips do look really glossy and full when I reach for this gloss—which has been every day since I got it.
I came of age during the powder foundation years, and I still shudder at the memory. Once the dewy beauty look took over, I never looked back—until recently. I noticed all of the beauty experts on Instagram and YouTube were using setting powders and their makeup looked amazing. I decided to dip my toe back into powders with this setting powder and I’m glad I did. It’s a really light powder that helps set my makeup without taking away the glow factor and is helping extend my makeup on sweltering days.
A concealer that also acts as a spot treatment is basically a dream come true (although I would take an acne free dream altogether if I could). This concealer feels really nice when you apply it and, despite being a spot treatment, isn’t drying at all. I appreciate that the brush delivers a light amount of product since I find a lot of concealer wands distribute way too much.
This foundation is stealing me away from my beloved Nars Light Reflecting Advanced Skincare Foundation which I did not see coming. It’s full coverage without being too flat or matte, and it includes SPF 25 which is perfect for days when I’m in a rush and don’t want to fuss with applying sunscreen and waiting for it to absorb.
This was the Kosas product I was most excited to try, but it was also the one I felt most skeptical of. The idea of a tinted face oil really appealed to me as it sounds unbelievably glowy (don’t worry it is), but I assumed it would have really light coverage (more like a tinted moisturizer). I am happy to admit I was wrong. This really luxe feeling face oil is just as full coverage as any foundation. It applies so beautifully but hasn’t been holding up all day in 90 degree summer weather. I can’t wait to try it out again once the temperatures drop to more reasonable numbers. Since it does have a ton of moisturizing ingredients, it will probably be a great fit for the dry winter season. If you have dry skin, this tinted face oil would likely suit you all year round.
Another fun summer beauty problem? Body acne. I haven’t been using this body wash long enough to see major results, but I do know that it doesn’t irritate my delicate chest skin like most acne products do. I’m glad I can use this product consistently and comfortably.
Thanks to my Greek heritage, I have a lot of hair, and my eyebrows can be quite stubborn as a result. Luckily, this gel holds everything in place really well. As a bonus, it comes in tons of different shades so most people should find one that works well for them.
Does the hunt for the perfect mascara ever really end? It does not. I’m always a happy camper though when I can find a mascara that focuses on making lashes look dark and lush, without any flakes or the dreaded racoon eyes that seem to always happen at the same time that 3 p.m. slump hits. This mascara makes the cut.
