Whether Super Bowl Sunday is your favorite National Holiday, you show up to the party for the snacks and the snacks only, or wouldn’t dare miss an iconic halftime show performance, there’s one thing we can all agree on: the star of this year’s show is Rihanna. This year’s halftime show will be nothing short of incredible as it marks Rihanna’s much-anticipated return to music.

Personally, I think it’s so humble of Rihanna to allow a football game to take place during her concert. If you can relate and don’t plan on missing the performance, we’re sharing how to catch the once-in-a-lifetime show. Here’s exactly how to watch Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show and what to expect from her performance.

How To Watch Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show

When is the Super Bowl Halftime Show?

The Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, February 12th 2023. The game will begin at 5:30PM CST, and you can expect Rihanna halfway through the game at approximately 7:30PM.

What to Expect From Rihanna’s Performance

As with any other performance by Rihanna, we know we can expect an outstanding show. She even set high expectations for herself stating, “If I’m going to leave my baby, I’m going to leave my baby for something special.” She gave birth to a son in May of 2022 (and made her entire pregnancy an iconic fashion moment, might I add), so we know she’s going to make this show count.

She’s also called the halftime performance a welcomed “challenge.” She shared with Entertainment Tonight,”You could get real comfortable being at home as a mom, [so this is] challenging myself to do something that I’ve never done before in my career. I have to live up to that challenge.”

A Barbados native, Rihanna has time and time again shared her culture within her music and performances. Think: “Man Down.” According to the “Rude Boy” artist, we can expect more of this during the halftime show.

The artist’s boyfriend and father of her child, ASAP Rocky, has also shared his thoughts on Rihanna’s return to music. During an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, the rapper shared, “The Super Bowl is huge, and her being the creative she is, she going to bring it, man. I’m excited.”

If you ask me, one of the best parts of halftime show performances is how artists use it as an opportunity to revisit some of their older music, allowing the audience to rediscover the songs they forgot about. Rihanna’s discography dates back to 2005, so I know there’s going to be some oldies-but-goodies in the lineup. Additionally, Rihanna recently released her first new song since 2016, “Lift Me Up,” for the movie soundtrack of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Bottom line? Many of us grew up listening to (okay, obsessing over) Rihanna’s music. Kids, teens, and adults alike enjoyed her albums throughout the years, so we know this performance is going to be a nostalgic moment for all generations. As with her Bring It On: All or Nothing cameo, we expect Rihanna’s performance to be iconic.
