While the first Monday in May has definitely earned the reputation of a national holiday thanks to the Met Gala, my hot take is that the first Tuesday in May is even better. All the looks are in, and after sleeping on my initial impressions, I’m able to accurately judge most famous people on Earth and their fashion choices while wearing leggings and a sweatshirt. Sure, we all make initial calls as the stars grace the carpet, but the true history-making looks rise to the top Tuesday morning. As much as I love seeing the incredible outfits, my eyes always shoot to the finishing touches that take a look to the next level—namely, the Met Gala manicures.

From Ego Nwodim’s button-adorned nails to Cynthia Erivo’s inches-long manicure that reportedly took two days to complete, this year’s Mat Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” was a magnum opus in nail art. These are the best manicures of the 2025 Met Gala steps.

1. Ego Nwodim

Ego Nwodim doubled as a Met Gala guest and the host of Vogue‘s livestream, and her button-embellished nails served as the perfect finishing touch to both duties. This manicure is the definition of “nail art,” and I’m obsessed with how it not only connects to the rest of her Christopher John Rogers look, but completely elevates it.

2. Lisa

After stealing our hearts as Mook in The White Lotus, Blackpink superstar Lisa is also stealing the “Best Met Gala Manicure” title (well, at least one of the best manicures). Her red, white, and black embellished Louis Vuitton nails are everything and more.

3. Emma Chamberlain

Despite being partially hidden by sheer gloves, Emma Chamberlain’s moody maroon manicure was totally scene-stealing. The fact that the color perfectly matches the handkerchief stitching on her frocket (are we still calling them that?) is *chef’s kiss.* I know we’re usually all about pastel nails in the spring, but I will definitely be getting this color next time I’m choosing a nail color.

4. Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion’s Met Gala nails are the physical embodiment of glamour. They’re long, bejeweled, and absolutely stunning. You know your nails look good when they’re even more eye-catching than your 35-carat diamond earrings.

5. Cynthia Erivo

Cynthia Erivo is the queen of manicures, and her Met Gala look did not disappoint. When you’re already so known for turning out fabulous nails on every red carpet, the bar is even higher for the Met Gala—but honestly, these nails are so good that they could be a part of the exhibit.

6. Lupita Nyong’O

Butter yellow this, buttery yellow that—the only color I want on my nails for the foreseeable future is this gorgeous, sparkling blue. Lupita Nyong’o never misses on red carpets, and her Met Gala mani is no exception. The aquarmarine blue she opted for is perfect for spring and summer.

7. Gabby Thomas

There’s something about a slightly elevated, simple nail that’s going to do it for me every time, and Gabby Thomas’ nails were exactly that. And plot twist—they’re press-ons, so unlike some of these other manicures, you can actually rock the exact set. They’re the Kiss Classy Premium Nails in the style Stunning, and I’m adding them to my cart immediately.

8. Natasha Lyonne

These dimensional, metallic nails are my absolute favorite part of Natasha Lyonne’s entire look. Chrome nails have been in the spotlight for the past few years, but these are the update they needed to look even more chic. Paired with her incredible statement ring? The hands are simply serving.

9. Zendaya

If there’s a red carpet “best of” list, you already know Zendaya is going to find her way onto it. She’s obviously at the top of my personal Met Gala outfit rankings, and the juxtaposition of her crisp, all-white ‘fit with a classic, red manicure was the perfect finishing touch to her look.

10. Sydney Sweeney

If you need a little inspiration for your next French manicure, may we suggest taking a page from Sydney Sweeney’s book and opting for gold French tips at your next nail appointment?

11. Cardi B

Velvet and glass nails have been popping up everywhere in 2025—including the Met Gala red carpet, thanks to Cardi B. With a theme so focused on tailoring, the majority of the outfits leaned neutral, so the bright green her nails brought to the steps was much appreciated.
