If you were to audit my credit card statements, you’d find at least one or two Old Navy charges every single month. It’s my favorite place to go for a seasonal refresh, whether that entails updating my basics or adding a few fun new pieces to my closet. So when I learned that they were dropping their first-ever bag collection, I started counting down the days. All of the Old Navy bags in this launch are worth checking out. However, one style truly stopped me in my tracks: the Carrie bag.
Although I am proud to say I never abandoned my beloved Old Navy, it appears that some others might have been sleeping on it. I can’t even open TikTok without seeing someone discussing Old Navy’s “comeback.” If you haven’t yet come around to the renaissance the brand is currently having, let me be the first to confirm: Old Navy is That Girl this fall.

The new Bag Shop lineup consists of three collections: Preppy, Romantic, and Carrie. They were made with real people in mind, blending trends with practicality and functionality. I’m calling it now. The Carrie bag—in all of its styles and sizes—is the affordable it-girl bag of the season, and you don’t want to miss it.
The Old Navy Carrie Bag Collection
I’m not the only one who thinks Carrie is the must-have of this collection. “Every piece is thoughtfully designed with clean lines, great proportions, and materials that feel elevated without being overworked. The Carrie Tote is a standout for me—it’s simple, structured, and effortless. The kind of bag you can carry every day, but that still gets noticed,” said Zac Posen, Old Navy Chief Creative Officer.
The Carrie style is named for Carrie Donovan, a fashion editor turned Old Navy TV campaign star in the ’90s. Based on my understanding of this fashion icon, the bag certainly embodies her effortlessly chic style. And we can’t help but think that Carrie Bradshaw would also approve of this bag (especially in blush pink).
The hardest part about shopping for this bag will be deciding which one (or ones) you want. It comes in three styles: a crossbody ($30), a medium tote ($35), and a large tote ($45). It also comes in five leather and three suede colors across styles. Plus, the crossbody is available in faux calf hair cow print, which is majorly on trend this fall.
The Carrie tote bag is the definition of a high-end look for less. Its slouchy-yet-structured silhouette is reminiscent of designer bags from The Row and Loewe. And the square shape and middle strap have a similar vibe to a Hermès Picotin. The bag is also celeb-approved and has recently been spotted on Jenna Ortega, Shailene Woodley, and Brenda Song.
