As a woman who sports a 36D bra, you can imagine that when the current bralette trend started to pop up all over my Pinterest feed, all I could do was stare longingly at the dainty, feminine styles that the much-more-petite-than-I models in the photos were wearing. I loved the way the lacy straps added a feminine touch to a basic off-the-shoulder sweater or tee (one of my favorite styles of tops to wear), but picturing myself being, erm, supported by that flimsy fabric seemed like a real long shot, to say the least. Still, I’m a firm believer in intimates that make you feel good underneath your clothes, even if you’re the only one who will be seeing them. Puts a little extra pep in your step, amiright?
Enter Vanity Fair’s bralette, and my dream of sporting this new trend now feels, dare I say, completely attainable. Suddenly my mind is flooded with visions of myself in a slouchy sweater with a hint of lace peeking out from my shoulder. Or getting dressed in the morning in my new, feminine, intimate apparel instead of my basic black bras that I’ve had forever and leave much to be desired.
It’s worth mentioning that in these visions, I’m also tan, fit, and glowing with health and vitality. Hey, it’s my dream, just go with it.
Without further ado, allow me to further explain why this bralette is a total game-changer.
It Doesn’t Exclude Big-Busted Ladies
The best part of Vanity Fair’s new bralettes, and what sets them apart from all of the others that I’ve tried (yes, I subjected myself to trying the aforementioned flimsy pieces of fabric on in the dressing room before Vanity Fair came into my life) is that they have an amazing, molded shape WITHOUT uncomfortable underwire. They lift, shape, and support you up top, and are available in size S to XXL!
It’s almost as if this bra was made to look good AND be an actual option for those of us above a C cup. A REAL VICTORY.
It’s So Comfortable That You’ll Forget You’re Wearing It
Considering this bralette is wire free, it goes without saying that these are SO much more comfortable than any of my traditional bras. The fabric is so soft against my skin that I’ll actually fall asleep in mine without thinking about it. Every woman knows that finding a bra that you don’t take off IMMEDIATELY upon entering the sanctity of your home is a bra that deserves its very own parade.
It Will Transform Your Wardrobe
OK, but back to how you can style this beauty to being a part of your actual wardrobe. It’s really too pretty to only be seen by its owner. My favorite way to style it is with a drapey top that allows just enough lace to be seen when one shoulder is exposed. It’s the perfect hint of playful, but still classy.
I also love wearing mine under a simple button-down, since my bra somehow always ends up peaking out underneath. When it looks this good, it feels intentional and like its actually part of your outfit instead of an accidental wardrobe malfunction.
Another bonus: They have matching sets of underwear to be worn with the bralettes and I’m telling you, NOTHING makes you feel more put together than when you’re wearing a matching set. If you haven’t experienced this firsthand, I recommend you try it immediately.
So there you have it, ladies. There’s hope for all of us to dip our toe into the bralette trend, and I’m shouting it from the rooftops.
