I Tried Quince’s New Under-$50 Activewear Line–Here Are My Thoughts

I don’t consider myself an early adopter when it comes to trends. I prefer to stick to what I know and love, but sometimes, a certain product or brand comes along that I just can’t ignore. That’s what happened when I found Quince. I first learned about the company when one of our editors reviewed their $50 cashmere sweater—yes, you read that right—and when I found out that they released an activewear line with pieces under $50, I was sold. After giving the new activewear pieces a thorough test, these are my honest thoughts.

About Quince’s Activewear Line

Quince has made a name for itself as an affordable brand with a focus on high-quality, sustainably made products, and their activewear line is no exception. Each piece is made from post-consumer recycled polyester fabric that contains approximately seven two-liter bottles and is designed to be moisture-wicking, quick-drying, and antimicrobial. Their pieces are also Global Recycle Standard-certified. Translation: I feel good as a consumer since I’m buying pieces that are better for the environment. What’s more, Quince provides transparent pricing, sharing the exact costs associated with each garment and how they stack up to leading brands.

What I Tried

Ultra-Soft High-Rise Legging

I’m probably the pickiest person you’ll meet when it comes to the fit and feeling of my leggings. I don’t run or do super high-impact workouts, so I don’t need my leggings to have any compression. Instead, I prefer for them to feel like a second skin that moves with me while I take pilates classes, lift weights, or walk on the treadmill, and Quince’s high-rise leggings do just that. They have a fitted waistband that stays put, so they don’t slip or slide during workouts. At the same time, they’re soft enough that I could comfortably lounge in them, too.

Ultra-Soft V-Neck Cropped Tank

You may notice a pattern here: I like my workout clothes to be soft. So when I saw that I could make a matching set with my Ultra-Soft High Rise Leggings and this tank, I immediately added it to my cart. I was pleasantly surprised that the top doesn’t have any padding. While this means it definitely isn’t maximum support, it holds you in well, and you don’t need to worry about padding bunching or slipping out of place. I usually prefer a full-length tank, but when worn with the matching high-rise leggings, the cropped tank didn’t show too much skin for me, so I still felt comfortable. Bonus points: I don’t have to worry about grabbing a bra and a shirt while getting ready for the gym; this top doubles as both.

Flowknit Breeze Long Sleeve Top

Walking, running errands, going to the gym—I’ll be doing it all in this top. I typically don’t like the feeling of moisture-wicking fabrics, but Quince has managed to make theirs feel more like a soft brushed cotton that’s comfortable to wear for any and all activities. I also love that the fabric features UV-SPF 40, making it the perfect accessory for my hot girl walks. At just under $30, it feels like I splurged on a high-end piece.

My Final Thoughts

Much like their other products, Quince’s activewear line does not disappoint. The quality of their products can be compared to high-end activewear from companies like Alo or Lululemon but without the high-end price tag. I love that Quince makes quality activewear attainable because we all deserve to feel good sweating it out in our workout outfits. Another reason to love Quince? They offer free shipping and returns year-round.

If I had one complaint about Quince’s activewear collection, it would be I wish they had more color options. The Ultra-Soft High Rise Leggings I ordered only come in seven colors, and their color options aren’t the same across their activewear products, which can be frustrating if you’re trying to put together a matching outfit. That said, it was an opportunity for me to branch out of my usual neutral color palette and try a pair of light blue leggings, which I ended up loving. So, is Quince’s activewear line worth it? 100 percent. If you’re looking for comfortable, quality pieces at an affordable price point, look no further. I can’t wait to see how Quince continues to build out the line with more pieces.
