The magic of skirts is that regardless of how much time I put into styling one, the return is always 10 times greater. Not only do I feel more comfortable, but I also look way more put together than if I were wearing a pair of run-of-the-mill cut-offs. Though I wear skirts year-round, come summer, I’m practically living in them.

There are, of course, a handful of skirt staples I keep in constant rotation—a silk midi, a linen maxi, and a black mini—but with each passing day, I’m reminded that summer is quickly approaching and my wardrobe is undoubtedly calling for a few more additions. This year, I’m looking for skirts that will make styling a breeze. (Think: a little polka dot number with an eyelet tank or a button-front style with a plain white tee.) Fortunately, after completing a quick pulse-check and surveying our editors on the skirts they have their eyes on this season, it seems 2025’s skirt offerings are aplenty. Maybe this is just my excitement speaking, but at this point, my problem isn’t finding skirts to add to my wishlist, it’s narrowing down my long list of favorites.

After careful deliberation, these are the 15 must-have skirts on my summer 2025 wishlist.

There’s not a ton of femininity in my wardrobe, mostly because I gravitate toward structure rather than soft materials and prints. Recently, though, I’ve come to love pairing contrasting pieces, so I’ve been incorporating softer silhouettes like this tiered skirt into my spring lineup to pair with loafers and blazers.

Against all odds, I don’t own a plain white skirt. Similar to a white dress, you can style a white skirt a million times over, so it’s imperative that I finally snag one of my own. I like that this one comes in an off-white, which feels more approachable when it comes to styling. And the pleating on the sides? To die for.

If it’s available in polka dots, it’s more than likely coming home with me. I can be pretty particular about the pattern’s scale though, and usually gravitate toward larger dots versus smaller ones. The pattern on this version? Perfection. Oh, and did I mention it’s actually a skort? Consider this a done deal.

This cotton maxi skirt’s tiered details make it ideal for leveling up summer basics like tanks and tees. Its pull-on waist also ensures it’ll be so comfortable, you’ll want to live in it throughout the warm months.

I’ve never stepped foot on Martha’s Vineyard, but come summer, I like to dress like your average New England vacationer. On a quest for my usual stripes, I came across this pattern and immediately fell in love.

As much as I love bold prints and bright colors, I also keep a healthy stock of simple, neutral bottoms in my closet. They’re the glue that holds my summertime wardrobe together, and are the perfect foundation for a more statement-making top. I’m always on the lookout for pieces with special details, and this one’s belted waist and button-front closure hit the mark.

Before you write this one off completely, let me start off by saying that yes, suede can be worn year-round. I have a pair of suede mini shorts that I wore ad nauseum this past year, which has inspired my search for a suede mini skirt for spring and summer. This one fits the bill exactly—and its price is a total steal.

As a personal stylist, I’ve recommended this skirt to more of my clients than I can count. After seeing how amazing it looks on them, I decided I better order one for myself, too. I love the orange-red color that can add a perfect pop to summer outfits.

I spent the majority of last spring exclusively styling butter yellow, and after word just got out about it being spring 2025’s it-color yet again, I’m on the hunt for a few additional options. A yellow skirt is at the top of my wishlist, and with a price tag at less than $100, it’s safe to say my search is over.

In my opinion, one can never have too many poplin skirts. They’re just as comfortable as they are stylish and can level up the simplest of tops. With that in mind, I’ve somehow never owned a striped version, so the chances of this one arriving on my doorstep next week are pretty high.

I own this skirt in white and have been reaching for it so much that I’m now considering buying it in another color. I don’t usually gravitate toward blue, but this dreamy shade is so pretty that I couldn’t possibly say no. I’ll be styling it with my white tanks all summer long.

This bubble-hem skirt is the definition of versatile. I can’t wait to take this pin-striped option from the office to brunch with the girls with the help of a fun tank and wrap sandal.

Although it’s synonymous with summer, gingham isn’t always top of mind for me. I stumbled across this belted style, and the juxtaposition of the casual print in a tailored silhouette immediately pulled me in. I can’t stop picturing it with mesh flats and a strapless top on hot summer days.

We’ve already established that I’m a sucker for polka dots, and this skirt is no exception. The traditionally black-and-white pattern in chocolate brown feels fun and fresh, yet maintains a classic feel that’ll keep it in my closet for years to come.

I love chocolate brown for its ability to look good with just about any color—blue, pink, yellow, you name it. The smocked waist on this one makes it feel extra special.
