As summer is to sandals and winter is to fuzzy slippers, fall is to the lug sole boot. Oh, the lug sole boot. I can hardly think of what we did before it. It oozes practicality and chicness. From getting around pesky puddles to navigating surprise showers, the best thing about a lug sole boot is how it keeps you protected and looking stylish all at the same time.

While we’re big fans of the boot, it can sometimes be tedious pairing your fave pair of fall boots with the same pair of jeans and whatever sweater you throw on for the day. The magic about lug sole boots is that they truly look great with anything, no matter where you are. Date night dinner and a dress? Pumpkin patch in jeans? Grabbing coffee in leggings and a hoodie? They’re easy to throw on, knowing they’ll look good with whatever you pair them with—whether it’s your go-to fall outfit or you decide to take a fashion risk.

From the start of fall to the very early beginnings of winter, we’ve got you covered on how to style your lug sole boots. Lucky for you, our favorite pair of lug sole boots are waterproof, so they’re sure to last until next year’s spring showers. Take a peek below to see how I’ll be styling my boots this fall.

1. A collared sweater + skort

I live in skorts all year round, and lucky for me, the skort pairs perfectly well with these boots and a pair of tights. There’s really no better way to show off your shoes than when wearing them with your favorite skirt. Now, you’re ready to take on the town.

2. A shacket + squareneck bodysuit + wide leg jeans

Shackets easily became a staple in my closet in the past couple of years. The longer they stick around, the more I find new ways to wear them. When paired with wide-leg jeans and the lug sole boot, it’s hard for me to gravitate toward any other combination.

3. A turtleneck + knit vest + midi skirt

Dress up your boots with a midi skirt and vest. The height on the heel of this boot is tall enough to add a sophisticated touch to any outfit you want to dress up a bit more.

4. A moto jacket + sweater + black jeans

Play into the bikercore trend and wear an all-black outfit with your boots. The leather repetition of the shoes and the jacket contrast perfectly with a knitted sweater and a faded pair of black jeans. Trust me. You’ll be unstoppable in this outfit.

5. A puffer vest + hoodie + dark wash jeans

My fave outfit that’s low effort—yet still looks cute—is a big puffy vest with a comfy hoodie. For this outfit, the boots are the cherry on top. If you’re not in the mood for jeans, just swap them for leggings. It’s still chic and stylish.
