My Week of Outfits: Interior Designer Chrissy McDonald

"

Hi, everyone! I am so excited to be taking part in this series. Working in interior design means no two days are ever the same. I could be sitting at my desk all day or I could be running around from place to place, so comfort is always the most important aspect of any outfit. As much as I wish I could rock heels and a skirt on workdays, I usually stick to a pretty simple “uniform” of a sweater, comfy jeans, and flats. Over the past few years I have really paired down my wardrobe and now I gravitate towards classic tailored pieces and items that are easy to mix and match. I prefer neutrals over prints and almost always have a jacket on hand.

Monday

You would think by 27, I would have Monday nailed down, but I still struggle to get it together at the beginning of the week. Because I work in an office and blog on the side, I am often doing work before I go to my office, which can leave me scrambling to get dressed in the morning. For this reason Monday is one of my more casual days. I usually go for a sweater, ripped jeans, and throw on a jacket and nice pair of shoes to look a little more polished.

Tuesday

By Tuesday I usually look a little more put together. Now that the weather has been cold and rainy, I live in this trench coat and black booties. My go-to Madewell tote also looks great with almost any outfit because of its rich cognac color.

Wednesday

Wednesday always seems really busy. I could be at a client’s house or running around the design center, so it is important for me to wear a super comfortable outfit that doesn’t look sloppy. I love pairing a pretty camel color sweater with lived in black jeans and sleek Gucci loafers.

Thursday

I don’t work in the office on Friday, so for me, Thursday always feels like the end of the work week. I love this yellow motorcycle jacket from Zara thrown over something really feminine like this Anthropologie lace trim blouse. By Thursday I am usually re-wearing my jeans from the beginning of the week and will often accessorize with a fun shoe instead of a basic pair of flats.

Friday

Even though I am not in the office on Friday, it is often one of my busiest days. This day I was prepping for a big photoshoot and had a meeting in the city, so I wanted a transitional outfit that would work for the whole day. These Citizen of Humanity boyfriend jeans are my absolute favorite. They are so worn and comfortable, but somehow don’t look too frumpy. Whenever I wear jeans this casual I like to take it up a notch by adding a pretty red lip and some nicer flats. ( I scored these Chanel gems on eBay!)
