While I’ve long since come to terms with the fact that the romance movies I watched growing up were not an accurate predictor of what my adult love life would look like, Emily Henry novels continue to raise my completely unrealistic expectations for a whirlwind romance. No matter how many times I remind myself these books are fiction, and that the only reason these men exist is because they were literally written by a woman, every time I crack one open, my mind immediately drifts to what that romance would look like in my own life. Am I a secret softie workaholic like Nora? Constantly chasing my next adventure like Poppy? With her knack for writing relatable characters (even when the situations couldn’t be less relatable), I see a little bit of myself in every Emily Henry protagonist. But I want to know who I really am, once and for all. So I’ve decided to call upon my foolproof way of assigning fictional characters to myself and all my friends: zodiac signs. Here’s the Emily Henry character you are, based on your zodiac sign.

Aries

aries

Augustus from Beach Read

Aries are determined, confident, and passionate, just like our Beach Read MMC, Gus. At the beginning of the book, he’s seen as a moody, serious literary author who comes across as short-tempered and a little aggressive. Aries tend to make an intense first impression, but as you get to know them, you grow to appreciate their bold honesty. Gus’ fiery personality hides a soft heart. Plus, his snarky banter with January is at a level only an Aries could pull off.

Taurus

Charlie from Book Lovers

In Book Lovers, we’re introduced to Charlie Lastra as the intimidating, logical-to-a-fault book editor and Nora’s work enemy. He’s brooding and competitive, and Nora initially thinks that’s all there is to him. But his reliability and practical nature are classic Taurus behavior. He’s stubborn and uncompromising on the surface, yet endlessly loyal and protective of the people he loves. Even with his devotion to his career, Charlie chooses to care for his aging parents, showing off his Taurus dependability.

Gemini

Alice from Great Big Beautiful Life

Alice Scott is the human embodiment of sunshine in Great Big Beautiful Life. Her curiosity about others, adaptability, and quick wit are textbook Gemini traits. She’s a quirky optimist who’s never met a stranger she didn’t love, but when she’s with her family, we get to see another side of her. Just like a Gemini, she can be nervous and indecisive, often prioritizing others’ needs over her own desires.

Cancer

Harriet from Happy Place

In Happy Place, Harriet may have become a neurosurgeon to please her parents, but her instinct to care for others makes her a Cancer through and through. She’s conflict-avoidant and more focused on keeping the peace than confronting the truth, even if it means faking a relationship with her ex-fiancé so she doesn’t ruin a group vacation. That kind of emotional self-sacrifice? Peak Cancer. Her loyalty to others and sensitivity to their feelings often outweigh her own emotional needs. Her love of pottery also taps into the artsy, sentimental side Cancers are known for.

Leo

Leo

Miles from Funny Story

Only a Leo would know literally everyone in town the way Miles does in Funny Story. He’s generous, outgoing, and rolls with the punches in a way that might send any other sign into a spiral. We fall in love with his humor and warm-hearted nature, and so does basically every character in the book. Leos have a way of lighting up a room without even trying and Miles is no exception.

Virgo

virgo

Alex from People We Meet on Vacation

Alex balances out his best friend Poppy perfectly. Where she’s wild and spontaneous, he’s practical and routine-loving, just like a true Virgo. He’s hardworking, analytical, and definitely more reserved, but his loyalty shines through when it comes to caring for the people he loves. He’s the dependable one who is always prepared and grounded.

Libra

libra

Daphne from Funny Story

Sweet, people-pleasing Daphne is a Libra to a tee. She constantly tries to keep the peace, even if it means sacrificing something of her own. At times, she avoids confrontation by molding herself to others’ interests in hopes of being accepted. All she truly wants is balance: to feel loved and to love others in return.

Scorpio

scorpio

Hayden from Great Big Beautiful Life

Like a true Scorpio, Hayden has a tough exterior that initially makes him seem intimidating. He’s disciplined, a little cynical, and definitely guarded. But as the story unfolds, you realize he’s actually incredibly caring. He’s protective and deeply loyal to the people and passions in his life. Once you’re in his circle, he’s all in.

Sagittarius

sagittarius

Poppy from People We Meet On Vacation

Sagittariuses love nothing more than traveling, and that’s basically Poppy’s entire personality. I mean, her job is literally to write about travel adventures. She’s outgoing and bubbly, and like a Sagittarius, needs spoontatneity in her life and hates the thought of being tied down by a routine. And, of course, she’s got that signature Sag sense of humor.

Capricorn

capricorn

Nora from Book Lovers

Put simply, Nora is a workaholic, and there’s no sign more attached to their work laptop than a Capricorn. They’re ambitious and fiercely focused, just like Nora, who’s not afraid to be cutthroat when necessary. She takes care of her younger sister, Libby, while maintaining self-control and being the responsible one. Nora also tends to expect the worst in any scenario (thankfully she’s proven wrong in Book Lovers). That cautious, prepared-for-everything mindset is pure Capricorn energy.

Aquarius

Aquarius

Wyn from Happy Place

Wyn has the laid-back, easygoing charm that only an Aquarius could pull off. He’s happiest outdoors and values his independence, both signature Aquarius traits. He runs the other way to avoid emotional conversations, hence the majority of him and Harriet’s problems in the book. Despite his aloofness, he’s deeply caring underneath it all.

Pisces

pisces

January from Beach Read

Like most Pisces, January is a hopeless romantic. She wants to believe in the good in people and radiates compassion. That said, her trusting nature sets her up for heartbreak, like when her perfect image of her father crumbles. She’s dreamy, emotional, and has a deep love for escapism. After all, she writes romance novels for a living.
