It’s the most wonderful time of the year: “spooky season” is finally upon us. The local farmers’ markets in my city are in full swing. Halloween is on a Saturday. And of course, the full moon is always here to keep things interesting.
October’s full moon, also known as the Hunter’s Moon, ushers in an opportunity for deep inner transformation. To make sure you’re not caught off guard by any of the full moon’s intensity, we’re breaking down how your zodiac sign might be affected this October.

What is the Hunter’s Moon?
October’s full moon is known as the Hunter’s Moon. Traditionally, it gets its name from the changing of the seasons and its connection to the harvest. Its light let hunters search for food longer, and the fields already being harvested made animals easier to spot.
When is the Hunter’s Moon?
The moon will reach its peak just after midnight on Monday, October 26th. However, Arutiunian says the influence of the moon isn’t tied to a specific hour and minute. You may feel its energy for a few days before and after.
Why is the Hunter’s Moon significant?
The Hunter’s Moon falls along the Taurus-Scorpio axis, which Arutiunian says causes a unique kind of tension. “Taurus rules what we own and what we cherish. Scorpio rules what sits beneath the surface: our fears, attachments, and need for control,” she shares. “That tension can feel like an inner tug-of-war. Hold on, or let go? Keep things as they are, or make a change?”
Full moons tend to bring things to a head, but to make matters worse, Venus is also currently in retrograde. If we have any unfinished business or emotions we’ve been bottling up, this season will make it hard to avoid.
According to Arutiunian, this season invites us to slow down, recharge, and balance holding on to what’s steady with letting go of what we no longer need. “It’s a natural moment to revisit our values, money priorities, and what truly helps us feel grounded,” she says.
What the Hunter’s Moon means for each zodiac sign
Aries

For Aries, this full moon may bring a greater awareness of your finances. Take time to review your spending habits and see where your funds are really going. If there’s a subscription or two you’ve forgotten about, it might be time to finally cancel. Your bank account will thank you, and you can put that money toward something more fulfilling!
Taurus

“With the full moon in your sign, this one is personal,” Arutiunian says. This season could lead to a major life overhaul for Taurus–which doesn’t have to be a bad thing! Maybe you’ve been itching to reinvent your personal style, or you feel drawn to move to a new city. These kinds of important realizations are a hallmark of the Hunter’s Moon.
Gemini

Geminis are known for making friends easily, but this full moon is a season of alone time for this air sign. “Old memories, hidden feelings, or situations that never got proper closure could resurface,” Arutiunian notes. Use these moments of rest to care for your inner self instead of packing your social calendar.
Cancer

Friendships take center stage for Cancer this October. You may become more aware of which relationships are worth deepening…and which connections might have run their course. Because your feelings may run high, give yourself a few days before starting any difficult conversations.
Leo

The Hunter’s Moon may bring about professional achievements for Leo. If you’ve been part of a huge project at work or you’re up for a raise, you might see the fruits of your labor (pun not intended). You may also find yourself reexamining your career goals. This is the perfect time to start thinking about what you want to accomplish next.
Virgo

Virgo, this is a season of learning. Your beliefs about a particular area of your life may start to evolve, or you may suddenly see someone in a new light. Arutiunian emphasizes being open to new perspectives. “Notice which knowledge and experiences genuinely move you forward,” she says. “They’re worth investing in.”
Libra

Like Aries, this full moon will also highlight money for Libra…with a twist. In particular, joint finances and debts may need your attention. But it’s not just about specific dollar amounts; Libra should also take an honest look at whether any debts are tied to other attachments no longer serving you.
Scorpio

Romantic relationships are top of mind for Scorpios in October. “True feelings, unspoken hurts, or long-avoided issues may finally come out,” Arutiunian says. Combine the full moon with Venus in retrograde, and that means one of two things: new loves will likely be hot, and relationships that are past their prime might crash and burn. Again, take the time you need to find inner clarity before making any big decisions.
Sagittarius

For Sagittarius, the Hunter’s Moon may shift your habits and daily routine. Have things felt hard to balance lately? It’s not entirely your fault. Take advantage of this season and simplify your schedule. With the extra free time, you can pour back into yourself–even a simple self-care night goes a long way.
Capricorn

Capricorn, this season will spotlight your hobbies. Creative pursuits are a great way to release any excess energy the full moon brings and stay in touch with a part of yourself that may have gotten lost. “Joy doesn’t have to become another item on your to-do list,” Arutiunian says. Think about the hobbies you enjoyed as a kid and whether any of them might be calling to you once again.
Aquarius

This October, home and family are asking for attention from Aquarius. It might be as simple as questioning part of your daily routine, or as big as decisions about your relationships with family. Arutiunian advises starting small by taking care of your home space. “Bringing order to your surroundings could go hand in hand with clearing space inside,” she says. Tidying up on the outside may help you make sense of inner conflicts.
Pisces

Pisces may have some big conversations looming during the Hunter’s Moon. That may sound daunting, but think of this period as a learning opportunity. Try to push any difficult conversations back a few days…but don’t use the full moon as an excuse to avoid your obligations. If something can’t be delayed, at least choose your words carefully so you don’t say something you’ll regret.
