Let’s all agree on the significant role the perfect Little Black Dress plays in our wardrobe. Right?! Finding the perfect LBD is like finding “the one.” It may take years of searching, weeding through all those ineligible bachelor dresses, but when you find one that really fits you, you never let it go. Truth be told, my go-to LBD is a dress from Gap I bought during freshman year of college (yes, I’m not even kidding).
But LBD’s aren’t up for discussion today. Let’s talk about her lesser-known (and just as amazing) little sister, the Little White Dress. The Romy to LBD’s Michelle. The Rachel to her Monica. The Elizabeth to MK&A. Your closet doesn’t quite seem whole without her.
You can think of the LWD as LBD’s warmer weather rival, a go-to summer staple, but one we also love for fall. Since we’ve collectively tossed the “no white after Labor Day” rule out the window, continue to sport our favorite must-have LWD all year round. Pick your favorite LWD above, and then check out our tips for endless ways to style this fashion must!
ONE LWD, ENDLESS COMBINATIONS
Play with layers: Layer a button down or lightweight turtleneck underneath a sleeveless white dress for more interest and warmth. Tie a chambray top or jean jacket around your waist to create more interest.
White on white: Wear your LWD with a chic white blazer or white overcoat for an ultra-polished, all white look.
Dress it down: LWD’s look just as great with sneakers and loafers as they do with strappy stilettos. Add a casual cotton tee underneath or over the top and finish your look with a baseball cap.
Add an edge: Pair an edgier piece, like a motorcycle jacket or studded heels with a sweet, lacy number.
Pop of color: Opt for neon elements, like a purse or shoes, to make your LWD more playful.
A bit of black: The combo of black and white never goes out of style. Switch up your white dress by sporting it with black and white oxfords, adding a black blazer, or a long black cardigan. The possibilities are endless!
Rainy days: Cloudy skies got you down? Pair your white frock with a raincoat, hunter boots, and high socks. A little drizzle never looked so stylish.
Vested interest: A vest is another easy way to dress down your LWD. We especially love denim, leather, and military vests. Which brings us to our next tip…
Military inspired: Lace and camouflage are an unexpected, yet fashion-forward combination. Even more points for pairing your LWD with military boots!
Mix those prints: Got a fun printed LWD like the one above? Don’t be afraid to pair it with your favorite striped, floral, or tribal accessories!
