A Simple and Stylish Holiday Soiree

‘Tis the season for sweet holiday tunes, twinkle lights, and gathering with friends and family. Are you ready to celebrate? Don’t let a small apartment hold back the festivities! Throwing a holiday soiree can be easy if you keep it simple yet stylish. Start with logistics; the number of expected guests will shape the format of the event. In an apartment with five guests, a seated dinner is no problem, but when you hit the double digits, cocktail parties work best.

For a cocktail party, focus on individual servings that guests can grab and go with. Plates, dipping bowls, and utensils get messy after use and clean up is constant. With individual servings, the mess is cut back, and in this case, the popcorn bag can easily be disposed of by guests. This leaves the hostess with more time to mingle and less clean up!

Baking is fun, but not everyone has time during the busy holiday season. Store-bought desserts that are a tad indulgent are perfect to serve. Donuts and donut holes top the list of sweet nostalgic favorites, and with a bit of edible glitter, who can resist? Three things every party needs for holiday décor: greenery, strings of lights, and a bit of sparkle. Pretty much any color scheme will work but those ‘must haves’ promise to give the celebration some warm holiday spirit!

Styling Tips from Mandy

Go green; greenery that is! Forage your backyard or purchase snippings from the local garden store. Greenery, berries, and pinecones bring instant holiday warmth to your gathering.

Individual servings keep things easy. Don’t bog guests down with plates and utensils. Keep them mingling with individual servings.

Simple is stylish. Brown craft paper with twine and masking tape is a simple but stylish way to wrap gifts. Turn it up a notch by adding greenery and berries under the twine.

Revisit comfort food. Popcorn and donuts are simple snacks that will make a big impact with a pick-your-own topping selection!

Something borrowed. Gather a collection of mix and match glassware to create a colorful and eclectic display.

Old really is new again. Nothing sparks a conversation among guests more than vinyl records or a Polaroid camera.

Hashtag it. Create and share a hashtag for the party so guests can enjoy moments they may have missed at the party!
