Fall 2014 Fashion Trends and Essentials #theeverygirl

It's that time of the year. Fall has snuck up on us, again. (Sigh.)

We were spending a significant amount of time wallowing about this fact over Labor Day weekend, but when we glanced through this fashion spread we quickly changed our tune. Leave it to our friend Megan from Lush to Blush to snap us out of our "more summer, please" phase and start burning pumpkin scented candles (which she has already admittedly done!). Regardless of where you live and what your weather conditions are at the moment, you're going to want to emulate these nine fashion trends for fall. Bring on the boots!

Art Deco Jewels

As the weather changes, trade in your bright turquoise and coral statement necklaces for darker, art deco jewels like these earrings from Accessory Concierge. We can't get enough of their sparkle, and their moody undertones make them the perfect jewelry choice for fall.

Fall Florals

Florals for fall (oh yes, we said fall) are, indeed, groundbreaking. Think flowery prints with dark backgrounds. Take a cue from Megan and pair this feminine pattern with another workhorse of your fall wardrobe, nude booties. (Spoiler alert, see below!) Add an art deco inspired necklace, and this floral midi dress from Threadsence is the perfect dose of autumn meets casual glam.

Longline Sweaters

"Longline sweaters are everything this fall," says Megan, sporting a longline cardigan from ASOS. "It's like the winter coat's cooler cousin that spends the day at insta-perfect cafes." She pulls off this transitional look perfectly with a cropped sweateropen toed mules, comfy-chic boyfriend jeans and a bucket bag

Metallic Oxfords

We're mixing up our fall footwear this season with a metallic version of the classic oxford. Megan recommends to "go with a preppy vibe by pairing them with a layered button-down and short sleeved sweatshirt combo and this year's hottest bag: the backpack." Keep your menswear feminine by adding some of the art deco jewels we can't stop gushing over.

Robe Trench

This season, trenches are trading their structured lines for a comfier, draped, and feminine silhouette. This ASOS robe trench, with an olive green twist in lieu of classic tan, is enough to make anyone green with envy. Our favorite way to style this look? Add a casual striped sweater and coated denim

Lace-Up Boots

A fresh take on your average knee-high equestrians, these lace-ups add the perfect amount of edge to your fall ensembles.

Nude Ankle Booties

Ankle boots for fall are clearly a no-brainer, but in lieu of that old worn out black pair under the bed, we're reaching for neutral nudes this season. And we might never look back. Not only are we swooning over the "rustic chic" effect this pair from Ruche gives to practically everything, but they actually look better with a few scuffs on 'em.

The Backpack & Bucket Bag

While these two seem to be competing for the hottest bag of the season, we simply can't play favorites. We're practically drooling over the way Megan styled both of hers from Wessley NYC. (Editor's note: while the bucket bag is still in stock, the backpack is sold out. Go for this one instead, it's a great steal!)

The Perfect Fall Hat

We can't get enough of wool blend wide brims in dark hues, like this one from Chicwish. It's one of the easiest ways to add a dose of fall to a more summery outfit as we deal with pesky in-between weather.
