Hear This: NONONO

NONONO is a breath of fresh air for lovers of indie pop. The group’s name comes from their joint realization that sometimes saying “no” doesn’t have to be negative—it can be a chance for a new beginning. You’re probably thinking you’ve never heard of them, but there’s a good chance you have and aren’t aware of it. The Swedish trio is best known for their hyper-happy anthem, “Pumpin Blood.”

It’s fun to imagine your life playing out like a rom-com sometimes, right? We all do it! “Pumpin blood” is that perfect drive-off-into-the-sunset-with-a-full-heart kind of song. It’s all kinds of energetic and contagious—especially the whistling. We all need at least one of these jams on our playlists as fall fades to winter and days turn to night in the blink of an eye. “Pumpin Blood” will keep you going when you’re feeling down.

NONONO’s five-track Pumpin Blood EP features fascinating vocals, catchy beats, and hypnotic melodies that will likely leave you wanting to listen again. And maybe a few times more after that. To hear more of their melancholy-yet-hopeful (as the band describes it) sound, be sure to check out “Like The Wind” and “Fire Without A Flame” below.

There are only a few more chances to catch NONONO on tour before the end of the year (including Q87.7’s ‘Twas The Night Before here in Chicago). Keep a look out for their debut album, which is expected to arrive in 2014.
